  1. gameday audio broadcasting commercials again. If I ever get a chance to punch out Jake the neighborhood guy from Old Style, I'll be all over it like your mom on a twinkie.
  2. Hopefully Hill is the one to break out of his slump and not the Giants. Of course, knowing the Cubs...
  3. If you read the thread you'd know he was scratched from the lineup because of soreness in his legs. :D I knew I missed a few pages. I guess there's the answer to my first question. Thanks.
  4. Did I miss something? Is no one else surprised to not see Bonds in the lineup tonight?
  5. The recent trend has the Cubs winning and Zambrano being the stud we can once again rely on for a solid start pretty much every time out. I was checking out other recent trends, however, and I found them pretty alarming to say the least. G IP ERA WHIP BB/9 OPSA _ __ ___ ____ ____ ____ Marshall 4 17.2 6.11 1.81 5.09 .928 Marquis 5 26.1 6.84 1.71 4.44 .930 Hill 4 17.2 8.66 1.81 3.06 1.025 (!!) In fairness to Marshall, in his four last starts, one was good, one was average, one was bad, and one was the 2-inning outing against Milwaukee, so sample size works against him here. The other two have been pretty reliably bad lately. I can't believe that the Cubs have the best record in baseball over this stretch while 3/5ths of their rotation is performing this way. Cubs need to make a move, wake these guys up, or watch the bullpen and offense come back down to earth just a little bit, causing the last 6 weeks to be this season's fluke rather than the first two months. Discuss.
  6. Pointless interjection: the use of the word "da" in the title is the only reason I haven't read a single post in this thread.
  7. I found it pretty tolerable. I definitely enjoy that he took the chance to do something different, the content was just a poor choice. The fact that he pulled that off so well is a testament to how insufferable the movie was.
  8. Link Parra replaced him, as expected.
  9. Please win, and please don't let anyone on the opposing team hit five HR in the next four days.
  10. I went with over 4. It wouldn't take more than a bad start or two to put him well above the mark, and he'd have to be a stud otherwise to off set it. He has a very good chance to stay below that, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it, I'm just throwing the guess out there.
  11. I hope for the sake of the race that Sheets isn't out very long. Sure it'll help the Cubs catch the Brewers, but I'd rather both teams be at their best.
  12. Jones is your new regular CF...better get used to it. I'm not going to get too upset about it yet. I think this is Jock's last chance. If Lee can get some power back, and Ramirez, Soriano, DeRosa keep playing well, Jones will have a chance to be a productive player at the bottom of the lineup. He's not as bad as he's been. If he snaps out of it with some regular playing time I have no problem with him hitting 7th. I agree. He doesn't even have to return to last year's form to be a decent 7 hitter IMO, he just needs to get closer than he's been. He won't be this awful all year, and knowing Lou, if he stays awful, his playing time will be shortlived anyway. If the first half of the order does halfway decent, the Cubs will be fine today.
  13. They definitely should have gone after DLee, IMO. Oh well, let's see Ramirez show them why.
  14. I'd go with Mays. For the people not watching, question was what was the best thing about ASB? 1. Derby 2. Mays tribute 3. Ichiro inside-the-park HR 4. Soriano HR 5. AL winning I'll take 6. It's finally over and the Cubs can play again.
  15. What's with the good baserunning today..............was there a clinic over ASB? I think they just all had time to read all the "don't suck, Cobs" and "just win, bitches" memos we've been sending them.
  16. Maybe Z can catch on his off days and we can clear out a couple people taking up all that space?
  17. If I were getting paid to follow the Astros this season, I'd find the pigeons more interesting too.
  18. His stuff is very good today. Early, he was wild in the zone. He's gotten his control back and seems to be very aggressive today. Early wildness and high pitch counts are pretty much the norm for Z. Luckily, so is dominance 8-) Thanks all.
  19. Has Z looked as good as his line does? He's even 1 for 2 with a RBI - nice!
  20. These two combine for close to 10 percent of all posts in the existence of nsbb. Rattle that around a little bit.
