  1. I wonder how far apart time-wise this happened in relation to Pie getting pulled. DUDE. Ramirez was pulled in the middle of today's game too. They're trading EVERYONE!!
  2. Whatever is happening, I really hope it gets announced/leaked/whatever sometime really soon. Waiting until tomorrow to hear whatever happened won't be fun.
  3. This is a pretty solid argument against it being Griffey.
  4. Yahoo I hope that means Tex. Also, if he hasn't asked for permission, how is it so widely known that the Cubs are an acceptable place of destination?
  5. Way to put five minutes ago in the past as quickly as possible. No more sucking allowed, Cobs.
  6. Otherwise known as the Dusty Baker Cream-Yourself Special.
  7. Cubs are going to come up with a fake rally and only score like 7 runs. Teases.
  8. Awesome. I don't know, I think it would be better to move Wuertz down to 6 or 7 in this lineup. He probably doesn't have the power to be an effective 5 hitter.
  9. Yea, but this is definitely the night to break out a showing like that. There was no pressure on him either way, and overall I think the innings of work will be good for him. I'm also in full silver lining mode for the rest of the game.
  10. We also got Lee and Soriano out of there. Hopefully Pagan and Fox lead the comeback charge.
  11. They wer esaying there's a good chance DeRosa will be ready to come back after tonight and that Lou kept him out primarily as a precaution. Hindsight proves that move to be a good one as well.
  12. Also, giving up all these runs takes away from the total ownage that Braden Looper continues to have on our offense.
  13. It seems to me like the cubs are taking this in stride and have a pretty healthy approach to getting their arses handed to them. There is constructive playing time all around, and I just don't get the impression that this is something that the team is going to be down on themselves over. Except for Marquis, who deserves to hang his head in shame the next four games.
  14. With all those fastballs, I'm surprised it took so long.
  15. I think what annoys me most about him is his lack of entheusiasm. If a Cub were to hit a go ahead home run, he'd have just about the same tone of voice as if he had flied out. (WHOOOO Pujols didn't make Marquis pay for the walk) As a pbp guy, yea he's bad. This broadcast has been a walk on the painful side tonight. He doesn't normally do pbp though, and for pregames and score updates and occasional fill-ins, I've had no real beef with him. Sorta like Neifi - possibly a decent 25th man, just PLEASE don't let him see much action.
  16. Looper and Marquis two innings deep into what has very predictably developed into a major pitcher's duel. :cues twilight zone music:
  17. They could do alot worse Probably, but he makes me actually miss Andy Masur. That statement alone makes me cringe. I think he's a decent upgrade over Andy Masur. I didn't like Provost at first because his voice reminded me of Masur, but as the year has gone on, I've liked him more. But Pat needs to hurry up and come back.
  18. Don't count me among the people who thought Marquis had a snowball's chance of getting out of that inning without giving up a run. Very nice.
  19. His "Chicago Cubs baseball is on the air" didn't make me smile the way Pat's always does.
  20. Corey Provost doing pbp, Pat's under the weather :(
