  1. Not sure, but that one is hard to put on Sori. He had a good jump. Chalk that one up to the catcher.
  2. Yea, but it's even better to have a catcher who is a proven veteran who knows how to win and brings great experience and clubhouse leadership.
  3. 19 isn't a lot for having a bad inning. He really needs to be efficient today. A 1-2-3 inning at the same pace would probably have him around 11 to 13 pitches, so despite the run, it's not a terrible start.
  4. I agree. He's been bad enough to justifiably cause much hand-wringing among Cub fans on days he starts, but he's let few enough games get out of hand that as a fifth starter, he is doing an acceptable job this year. The original post is also right that his track record of ineptitude will certainly come back to haunt the team and cost a few games before the end of the season.
  5. It's definitely a double-edge sword, which is why I had to walk away from this team completely last season. Though this season, their mood-altering powers have been nothing short of awesome 8-)
  6. Congrats man....you have a woman who clearly understands your hierarchy of "what is vitally important." :D I'm not sure what exactly her response to the remark was, but I'm pretty sure that a) it had something to do with priorities and attention, and b) I was too preoccupied with the Cubs being in first place to listen.
  7. On the phone around midnight last night with my girlfriend: "Cubs play a day game tomorrow, so we won't have to stay up so late to talk."
  8. Back to back bunt singles from Furcal and Pierre, a throwing error, an RBI single from Gonzalez, and a 3-run HR from Nomar, and the Dodgers put up a 4 spot in the bottom of the 8th and beat the Giants.
  9. Can someone please post a pic of Wood running out onto the field after the win tonight? Thanks in advance.
  10. This makes me giddy.
  11. Holding first won't be any easier than taking it was. The finish line is nowhere in sight. Keep it going strong, Cobs!
  12. To add to this, the Phillies are currently the sixth place team in the wild card race, at a mere 1.5 games back.
  13. As of this particular moment, the Cubs and Dodgers are both tied with a .001 percentage point advantage over milwaukee in a 3-way tie for first in the wild card.
  14. The Cubs ARE the only team in the history of baseball to win the World Series in a year that ends in 07. History is in their corner bigtime, so you're not exactly going out on a limb there, are you??

  16. Bases juiced no one out for Jason Kendall, and the outfielders will be WAAAY in for him. Which means they'll be playing his perfect depth.
  17. First place at third with nobody out... DRIVE HIM HOME!!!
  18. Good freaking lord - How much longer and more stressful could a scoreless inning possibly be?
  19. This game is not good for my blood pressure. Every Cubs game that is not a blowout win is bad for my blood pressure. This is a good point, though tonight is still a little moreso than most.
  20. for all the plays he has missed the last couple games, it's about time one of those finds his mitt.
  21. After Sori stole second, Theriot pinch hit for Fontenot who already had a 1-1 count. Theriot then walked. Lee up, runners on first and second w/2 out. no injury? No injury, but Soriano steals third - Lou's knees might be sore from whatever keeps knocking into them when he walks, the way he's calling this game. Holy crap.
