  1. I just watched replays of those walkoff wins a week or two ago and still got goosebumps. If I watch them now, I can't imagine I'd have any reaction other than sticking a pen in my eye.
  2. Pat and Ron were throwing peanuts at the crowd during the seventh inning stretch
  3. So what happens next: Cubs get a base hit with RISP, or a Cub catcher throws out a would-be base stealer?
  4. Seriously. And against Floyd. It doesn't matter that there's a runner on second, floyd can still ground into a dp regardless of who is pitching.
  5. At least DLee didn't ruin the 0-fer streak with RISP.
  6. 2nd and third no one out. Prediction: Lee walks, Floyd grounds into a qudruple play.
  7. If this were nascar, the Cubs and Brewers would be driving in reverse. The boredom would also be better entertainment than this team is right now.
  8. 2 walks and failure to cover first. Great freaking job, idiot.
  9. I thought the main drill in the field for a pitcher is covering first on any ground ball to the right side. How the hell does Eyre not cover on that play? It's just a shame this whole team stinks, so in order for Eyre to get chewed out by Lou, he'll have to take a number and get in line.
  10. Are they even bringing bats of any kind w/ them to the plate? I don't think they're wiffle bats, just because I don't think they would break as easily as Z's did.
  11. Hill walks to load them up for our best hitter!!
  12. DeRosa and Fontenot back to back leadoff hits. I call a Murton triple play here.
  13. Having to listen to the home team's broadcasting team really makes the amount of money they charge for mlb.tv not worth it to me, especially when $15 gets you pat and ron for all 162 games.
  14. Craig freaking Biggio. You've gotta be kidding me.
  15. Murton with the HR yesterday - let's see him become the first Cubs in 7,438 AB to drive in a runner from third with less than two out.
  16. Lou's idea is that if Lee and Ramirez aren't going to hit with runners on base, then just don't let anyone get on in front of them. I'm surprised Hill isn't batting there.
  17. Suuure. :D We should have just killed one of his grandparents like most teams do. Awesome
  18. Eh, I'm happy for him. Personally, I think the thread that was posted Monday detailing all the ways his arm brace ("hitting machine") helped his swing sheds more light on his production numbers than his steroid use does. It talked about how it levels his swing, prevents him from extending, and all sorts of other mechanics analysis. The two most intriguing (and coincidentally most circumstantial) points were that the current model of armor first appeared in 2001, the year he hit 73 HR, and that he has an impeccable way of avoiding homerun derbies, which do not require front arm protection. Any way you cut it, none of it negates the fact that hitting a homerun, regardless of steroids or armor, is a difficult thing to do and Bonds is now the most successful batter in history for that particular statistic. Now we can all enjoy moving on with our lives.
  19. I haven't been voting for a little while now, but I was say that number has come close to doubling since the start of the Cubs game, which makes me think it's not all that unlikely that it's part of your campaign rally. I may be wrong, but voting seemed to pick up significantly during the inning Houston blew the game open too. I'm really curious to see the results.
  20. That's awesome. If there is a link to a video of the interview, I expect it to appear here immediately. Also, I was voting for a while today and determined that I was able to get in approx 9 or 10 votes per minute, and did so before the game in a few different bunches of 6 or 7 minutes. However, during the later part of the game, the popup window kept taking longer to load, with a noticeable delay in "waiting for mlb.cubs.fanforum" or whatever the exact name is. I was only able to vote about 6 or 7 times a minute and continued to do so, but then I realized that every time I voted, the count would increase by about 10 or 15. Between every single vote. It held this rate for quite a while, and if soccer's reports about there being less than 4,000 votes on yesterday's poll with only a couple hours of middle-of-the-night voting time left, I'm pretty sure that means that of the nearly 17,000 votes that have been cast so far today, I bet more than 14K are yours. I'd estimate that somewhere around 5 or 6 hundred came from me. I also voted for Elinore about 30 times. Sorry Vance.
  21. Patterson strikes out chasing a high fastball. This game is de ja vu in more ways than one.
  22. Sounds like Ron is about ready to turn to drugs in an effort to put up with this offense...
  23. Nope. Looked pretty genetic there.
  24. Okay, I'm back home and got my firefox set up where I don't need a new browser or anything, so I can vote about ten times a minute. I'm stacking you up, Vance!! This will be my thanks for the premium. Also, my apologies, but I'm going to have to drop a few in there for Elinore too. She's exactly the kind of Cubs fan I think about when I think of the amounts of pain this team causes and about how badly I want to see them win it. If cubs.com overlooks the results for any reason, I'd like to do my part to make the case for her selection instead.
  25. Elinore is exactly why I think a Vance blowout could actually cost him the win. Whoever is in charge will see all they need to know from Vance's essay (30K posts, voting 100K times for DLEE) and decide that Elinore is the more deserving candidate and give her the win anyway. I'm still going to vote for Vance relentlessly, but if that's what ends up happening, as long as it's in favor of Elinore, I won't be terribly disappointed.
