  1. I'll post some relevant articles in here as well. This one is on Suaraz and Seattle, calling them a big threat. I expect the Yankees to land him personally: https://cubbiescrib.com/mariners-still-a-threat-for-top-cubs-trade-target-even-after-the-josh-naylor-trade
  2. Naylor to the Mariners for their 13th and 16th ranked prospects. Let the games begin.
  3. Brewers are better right now, and until Jed trades for a starter or two it's gonna stay that way. All the wimpy whining about their success is pathetic.
  4. Great post...KEEP this kid he's a stud and let's face it, do we really think Ricketts is gonna pay Tucker in a mega deal? Only Cub that should get 10 years 4-500 mil is PCA. Tucker will take the money and run to NY or LA and if we hang onto Caissie he can start play RF and/or DH along with Suzuki
  5. No sir: "The oldest batter vs. pitcher matchup in Major League Baseball history involved Nick Altrock (57 years old) and Rube Walberg (37 years old) in 1933, with a combined age of 94 years and 80 days, according to Guinness World Records. They faced each other on October 1, 1933, when Altrock was a player-coach for the Washington Senators and Walberg pitched for the Philadelphia Athletics."
  6. CR has been OUTSTANDING as a bottom of the rotation guy for 5 mil this season. Can't ask anything more IMO
  7. Couldn't agree more 9....so sick of seeing this guy's name. He has STUNK this season. I mean...wth?
  8. Man....where to begin. Trueblood has some VERY good and salient points overall but the fact is this season has been very altered by all the injuries to the starting pitchers. That said, Milwaukee is the better organization from top to bottom right now and if you believe the buck stops at the top then that is on Jed. He's under huge pressure to win and win now. I absolutely believe he's gonna trade most of our top assets to obtain another starter, another reliever or two and a third baseman. It's now or never for him, in that he doesn't have a contract beyond this season. He's a lame duck which doesn't help his leverage in trades either. He's not dealing from a position of strength IMO. Hope he can pull a rabbit or two outta the hat because with all the other contenders needing pitching it's a crowded market. The sellers have most of the leverage which is evident by the fact he's been trying for some time (by all credible reports) to acquire a starter and the sellers haven't budged in their high demands. Not good overall.
  9. The Reds can be pesky....the Brewers just beat LA 6 out of 6 games. They are very good....just the way it is.
  10. Sure hope so, but that's what a lot of us said about the Dodgers too. LA simply isn't that good right now and Milwaukee is very much for real. Got our hands full and gotta hope they'll cool off cuz they've been on an unreal heater. We've played damn good baseball all year only to be tied. I think the people assuming that MIL will gag in the playoffs again might be sorely mistaken, they are better this year than prior years.
  11. Incredibly annoying...he's more than earned a shot against lefties IMO. Turner? No comment cuz I don't wanna be negative.
  12. I thought it was Boyd's turn...heck I don't know, the all star break has me all turned around as to the current rotation
  13. I just saw on another Cubs fan board that Brown will make a start tomorrow although I don't know why. (Sharma of the Athletic is reporting it)
  14. Yeah, I just saw MIL is leading by a run going into the 9th and so it's probly over because their closer is pretty much lights out. They are really friggin' good and white hot. Dodgers aren't getting it done obviously. My guess is the Brewers have the kid on the mound tomorrow too.
  15. Worth pondering....dude has been SO good overall this season and maybe he's unlocked something with Hottovy and the team's pitch lab. As another poster pointed out, he was throwing 99mph tonight to Bregman among others. He's got GOOD stuff.
  16. He looks like a new guy after the break....much needed rest and recovery
  17. Yeah, Estrada cuts pretty deep indeed and rest assured you aren't the only one who has twisted and turned over him breaking out with the Padres. But to your point, we got Palencia from Oakland for Andrew Chafin of all people so.....YEAH. Win some, lose some I guess.
  18. Yeah, Matt looked good today and like you said....hopefully it'll even out in the end. IF he can raise his avg. to 240ish (I think he can) by the end of the year we'll have to call it good. His defense is great so that has to be taken into the equation. As for the game today I got home and I'm only to the 5th inning right now. Rea does it again, what more can be said about the guy? Is he signed for next year? I hope so and if not they need to get it done. Guy has been huge. To put it in perspective, if Assad OR Tallion would've had the year that Rea is having we would've been quite happy IMO. Edit: just found the article stating that the Cubs have a club option for '26 on Rea...oh happy day boys! He's ours next year for the paltry sum of 6 mil. He only made 5 mil this season. Talk about value...my gosh. https://www.mlb.com/news/colin-rea-contract-with-cubs
  19. Not IMHO....juice isn't worth the squeeze on that one. He'd be a great addition but they'd want the mother load in return. Doubtful on Ryan, but I'd love to be wrong. He's so solid. Apparently the Red Sox have been sniffing around him big time: https://nesn.com/2025/07/red-sox-reportedly-really-like-pitcher-currently-in-trade-rumors/ Another article I found just confirms what others on this board have said the last 24 hours. The Dbacks WILL be sellers which means Gallen(meh), Kelly (yay!) and Suarez are all on the block: https://sports.yahoo.com/article/cubs-receive-encouraging-availability-top-163056545.html
  20. You are spot on 34. I live in Michigan and the Tigers are my 2nd favorite team. They are leaking oil in the bullpen and need multiple arms there plus they absolutely need another starter too so it will be interesting at the deadline. They've feasted on a very weak AL Central to this point. Tiger fans don't wanna admit it but that division is brutal. It's Detroit and everyone else. Cleveland and Minny are decent but won't contend this year. Scott Harris of the Tigers has some holes to fill but they are a top two team in the AL along with Houston.
  21. M's put up 30 runs in the series at Wrigley with Raleigh going off among others. They can rake that's for sure: just put up 35 runs in sweeping Detroit in Motown this weekend.
  22. Good post and points 25. He could just be fatigued. He's thrown quite a few innings the last 3 months and time off will do him good. Doubt he'll be used tomorrow so he'll have the next 5 days off which should really help.
  23. Absolutely. I have heaped praise on Boyd, but Palencia is right there with him. Where would we be without those two? JUst fantastic performances from them today. Hats off.
