  1. I have had it for awhile now, great price for what you get. I would say you are going to be able to watch around 90% of all Cubs games.
  2. For some reason I am pumped about Pierre! I think we are going to really enjoy watching him leadoff and run! GO CUBS!
  3. Yes, and made a few visits during the season too...
  4. Are we due for the 2006 Injury Update Thread? With all due respect, SHUT YOUR MOUTH! :)
  5. Prince Fielder? Chris Capuano? Also, what players did we have in 98 again? Meh, I don't know about Prince, he is a "potential star" he will certainly have the chance this year as he will replace Overbay. Cappy is a good pitcher, heck I think he won 17 games. I think they have other "good" players ... just on paper I still think the Cubs are better! That being said, the Cubs on paper in 04 should have been WS champs! GO CUBS!
  6. Words escape me ... WOW!
  7. From what I understand, it is a group purchase and you can inquire about availablity right now. I do not believe it will give you an option of "Hanging" out with a SRO seat.
  8. What a bittersweet experience to watch and read those highlights. Man, to see DLee double down the line with 1 out in the 8th in game 6 is just weird! Excuse me while I go cry a little... we came so close, yet so far away!
  9. Personally I would rather have the media not give the Cubs a chance in 06. It seems as though the 2004 season everyone had the Cubbies as WS champs. I like the "under the radar" approach similar to the Astros and White Sox last year.
  10. Because it is a definition Wikipedia.com uses to describe the 2 words mentioned in the thread title. Grace actually said something that will go down in the halls of internet history!
  11. Wow...Grace always had a way with words
  12. Is there confirmation that the Rays wanted the exact package we sent to Florida for Juan? If not, let's call it pure speculation and get off JH's back!
  13. I was at the Brewers game last June where Patterson made a full-extension diving catch on a line drive with a guy on 2nd and 1 out late in the game and the Cubs up 2-0, then stood up and doubled the guy off of second in about two microseconds. I like Pierre, but to even suggest that there's a possibility that he is a step up from CPatt in the field is absurd. I was at that game too. That was a fantastic play. The crowd went wild, and kept cheering him on as he came up to bat first in the bottom half. Too bad he immediately followed it up with a 3 or 4 pitch strikeout. Was at that game also, fun game!
  14. I'm not going to claim that the Astros have an amazing outfield. While it's not spectacular, it's pretty respectable. Taveras .291/.324/.341 Pierre .276/.326/.354 Statistically, Pierre and Taveras were pretty much equal at the plate last year. Pierre's had better years so he could improve. Taveras as a rookie got his feet wet so he could improve as well. He needs to get on base at a better clip. Seeing as though he skipped AAA and in his 409 ABs in AA his OBP was .402, I expect he'll make some improvements. He's a very good centerfielder with a great arm. Wilson .261/.329/.443 Jones .249/.319/.438 Again, not a huge difference statistically last year. Wilson's knees are a concern but if he can stay healthy. He and Jones should be equals at the plate. I'm not going to do a statistical comparison of Murton and Lane. Murton's stats over 140 ABs as a rookie don't translate to a full season. I haven't seen the guy play but seeming as though he spent all of 2004 in A ball hitting 13 HRs in 460 ABs, I'm a little skeptical that he can hit anywhere near what he did last year for the Cubs. Anyway, my point is not that my player is better than your player. My point is that for Cubs' fans to be dogging on the Astros OF is, how do you say...Pot meet Kettle. As far as the bullpen goes, Qualls and Wheeler are EXCELLENT relievers. The Astros have so much faith in Qualls that Lidge almost was traded to Baltimore. Rumor has it if the Astros can get a quality bat, he's the bait. The rest of the bullpen is nothing special: Two decent lefties in Miller and Gallo and a veteran righy in Springer. The Astros bullpen should be excellent again. Other than a couple of monumental homers given up by Lidge, the Astros pen was fantastic in the playoffs. My biggest concern is that one of the young starters needs to step it up, especially if Roger doesn't come back. I'm also not convinced that Ensberg can keep up his allstar production. In short, the bullpen is really solid, the outfield is respectable, the offense is mediocre and the bottom of the rotation could pretty bad. Nice post, until the Astros and Cardinals begin to show signs of weakness, they are the teams that concern me, not the Brewers!
  15. I completely agree regarding Yost. Many casual Brewers fans do not see the idiot lineups the guy puts together. To have Miller batting 6th is pathetic. To not slide Jenkins down in the line up when he was 2-21 is equal to Sammy's disaster in 04. He is over hyped because he comes from the Braves org and the Brewers as a whole are way overrated.
  16. Hidalgo would be a very good bench option and plays very good defense. He would make a great 4th outfielder. Agreed, I would much rather see Hidalgo than Grissom.
  17. Thanks Bro!
  18. I can post it if it's allowed. I know posting entire articles is frowned upon. He has the Bears taking the enourmous Pope at TE. Can you post the top 5 picks?
  19. 20. Couldn't agree with you more. They were at .500 last year, honestly what have they done so well this offseason to push them into WC or Division champs? the cubs were below .500 last year, and what have they done to push them into contention for the WC or the division? More than the Brewers have and the Cubs are not "criminally overrated" as I was referencing SSR post.
  21. I would have rather seen Bates get the Head job and hire a OC. I still can't understand why we hired Mcwhatshisname. Man, sad days to be a Packer fan!
  22. Post All-Star break, JJ put up a .308 BA and a .866 OPS. I wouldnt exactly call that struggling. Also, when looking at his numbers the first half of last year, you have to take into consideration that JJ basically skipped AAA because of a shoulder injury he suffered early in the 2004 season. Why focus on just Post-AS stats? He hit .187 before the AS break. That being said, he is going to have to hit better than a combined .247 for the year for the Brewers to make any noise. Because he's a young player breaking into the big leagues? Making adjustments and improvements after struggling to start his rookie year is a good sign. That I understand, I am not saying he will do horrible, but in the context of this thread JJ is going to have to hit well over .240 for the Brewers to win 90+ games and be Division champs.
  23. Not inefficient when all 3 were not all healthy or prepared at the same time (Benson hold out). Where would the Bears have been when TJ missed the same week that Benson hurt his knee? Yes. The Bears absolutely must keep TJ and Benson. Two RBs are a must. The Packers like to keep 6. Good rule of thumb when you plan on going 4-12.
  24. I will create a poll. It will be the largest poll in NSBB history. It will include every member of NSBB as an option. The person with the most votes will be the starter if they choose to accept the victory. If they do not wish to be the starter we will move to the next person on the list. In the event of a tie I will flip a coin to decide the winner. If the tie is between more than 2 people I will create another poll with those people only. We should know who the starter will be before opening day. Do you accept proxy votes?
  25. As a Packer fan, I don't think the Bears need to do much. The division is wide open again and the Bears have to be the favorite going into next year, no doubt. One question, I have watched maybe 7 Bears games this year and for the life of me I can't figure out why Mohammad is the Bears go to reciever. Maybe it's just me but the guy is overrated and needs a set of hands.
