  1. Pretty wild following Iowa baseball somewhat closely for the first time in my life.
  2. Is there still concern that he may not qualify?
  3. It doesn't get better than his show The only times I get annoyed is when Dan gets a little too preachy for too long or does some of his ridiculous questions to try to start a discussion. But I really like him overall (and the tv show). Interviews are really good, the "looks like" game has been gold for like a year now, Ron Magill, the stuff making fun of other shows, etc... I don't care about the Heat or any Miami sports teams but I still listen to the local hour on podcasts. The Angry Mob never gets old somehow.
  4. Nah, that's the LeBatard Show.
  5. I think this makes it's pretty clear he's just talking out about McDonald to get the audience fired up and attack the Bears. He's got a pretty clear history of arguing these kinds of social issues in sports though, and doing a very good job at it. But I think a bit of wine and twitter got him in some deep water last night. Right, he's playing the game and saying the right things. Meanwhile, just under the surface is the real, drooling over boobs on Twitter, Bernstein. A lot of guys do that on Twitter but they're not 'Senior' reporters who host the most popular sports talk show in a major market. A guy in his position, especially if he claims to champion the opposite of this stuff, can't be this socially stupid on Twitter. He should get suspended. Yeah in the past I've heard him say the same things about various reporters and weather women. The blowback and discipline will be especially entertaining given his nature.
  6. That was [expletive] awesome. Gonzaga is as good of a matchup as Iowa could ask for with a 2 seed.
  7. I say yes.
  8. About as good of a draw as Iowa could reasonably have hoped for, though I think I would've rather had Kansas than Gonzaga. Davidson will be tough but it's a matchup extreme. Great offense that shoots a lot of 3's but really small and bad defense. Iowa is more balanced and a lot bigger but nowhere near the shooting.
  9. Oh for [expletive]'s sake Illinois. Welp, go Ohio State.
  10. [expletive] Crean. Illinois was fouled about 13 times in the last 4 minutes, none of them called. That was a ridiculous amount of contact that Purdue got away with.
  11. Fun last month of the season. As long as they take care of business on Saturday. Didn't expect that, especially with IU hitting 40% from 3. 6-3 on the road, damn. Nice to be playing for seeding rather than selection
  12. Sounds like Hartman is out for IU tomorrow. Should be a fast paced, high scoring game. If Iowa can pull it off it should make them a lock and give a great shot at the double bye as long as they don't [expletive] the bed at home against Northwestern on Saturday.
  13. And then there is Texas. From an outsiders perspective is Texas even an attractive basketball job? Arena kind of sucks, plenty of recruits but most of them go out of state. Excited to get a new coach regardless. Of course it is. People have argued that it could be THE best job or at least an elite one. Tons of resources, tons of talent, you'll get paid a ton and you won't have the pressure you'd have at UNC/KU/UK/Duke, etc. Downside is you don't have the support you'd have at other elites. Flip side, you don't have the pressure/accountability you'd have at those places.
  14. He only got 12? Damn. What was Niang doing with arms up in the air for like 15 seconds after he threw that ball away? What did anyone else do wrong there?
  15. You haven't won a tournament game since pre 9-11. And yet Iowa continues to finish ahead of Illinois despite hearing every year about the next group of recruits you have coming that will change everything.
  16. Because the refs were making terrible calls and they knew it so they let him go. The non-charging call where Iowa actually got an and 1 on the alley oop was particularly awful. I'm still not sure what the call even was there. You need a bigger tv. Olaseni was pushed while in the air which is why he ended up out of bounds.
  17. It was 10-2 because Illinois was mugging everyone. It was the old Izzo style, foul every possession and argue each one of them so eventually they won't call them all. Groce was arguing the foul on Egwu where he was holding a guy back with an outstretched arm the entire time he went after a loose ball in clear space.
  18. To be fair, Fran was kind of a psycho until his son got cancer. I think Iowa's playing a non-play-in game if they take two of the next three. That'd be an okay thing to do. Fran has total freak outs sometimes. Groce is the pacy, spazzy, clappy guy that Illinois fans always made fun of with Crean.
  19. Pasch is almost always his partner. He's kind of the straight man in the bit.
  20. Groce is such a spazzing penis. You guys all killed Crean (rightfully so) for being clappy and spazzy but Groce is the same guy. How the [expletive] did he not get T'd up in the first half?
  21. Black was the dude with a takedown and just held White after a rebound 2 seconds after the ball was gone. And committing 7 fouls per 40. He's the goon.
  22. Zing! No I'm serious. I've seen it mentioned in a few articles including a couple written before he died given the timing of when symptoms first began to appear and the nature of the disease. Here's one, I'll try to find others but the search just brings a ton of articles after his death now. One talked about the issues he had with short term memory his last year or two with the Cubs: http://www.stlsportspage.com/CARDSBASEBALL/tabid/91/entryid/1908/whatever-happened-to-wendell-kim-the-sad-story.aspx
  23. Yeah it sounds like he may have been affected by early symptoms (depth perception issues, short term memory loss, decision making) during his time with the Cubs.
  24. ISU-OU game was entertaining. Some crazy shooting in stretches back and forth. Can't believe some of the shots Hield puts up. Niang and Morris were bad last night.
