  1. Make that 36-4. Holy. [expletive].
  2. What the [expletive] kind of pass was Maniscalo attempting to make there?
  3. Did Dee and Bruce have issues when he was playing there? I don't remember ever hearing anything about that.
  4. I posted on this board that Barlow was an enormous punk immediately after watching him play his first Big Ten game in person and knowing nothing about him prior to that. So I've got that going for me.
  5. You're still trying to convince yourself that the student section at Purdue is any different from Illinois or any other group of ridiculous, pastey-white, obnoxious, homers in student sections throughout the country? Well I'll disagree with that. Purdue's in-arena fans are the most annoying in the Big Ten.
  6. Miller had one awesome year and an oustanding Olympics. Outside of that he really hasn't been that good. Kane is more valuable.
  7. Any talk of Chris Collins? I heard part of the ESPN podcast where Katz and Gottlieb mentioned him for Illinois and then Northwestern if that opened up. I think I would like that.
  8. Good call, didn't think of that. Was thinking of him being from Illinois and coaching at Illinois State but didn't consider the Weber angle. Iowa almost had him when they hired Lickliter. They interviewed him and had a contract drawn up at $1.5M per for 7 years (Lick's was for $1.2 so seems clear Stallings was option 1), but then he decided to stay at Vanderbilt. No idea where we would be right now if he came but I know the last 4 years wouldn't have been total hell.
  9. That game [expletive] sucked. How the hell is PSU 4-3 at home in the Big Ten? They have one player. Iowa sleepwalks through the first half, then actually plays in the 2nd half but misses key free throws and has two terrible calls go against them late. Then a [expletive] 33% FT shooter goes 4-4 and knocks down 2 with 25 seconds left.
  10. Stallings has taken Vanderbilt to the tournament 5 of the last 6 years and gotten good seeds most of the time averaging around 23 wins per year. Granted he's been upset a few times but still if he's doing that at Vanderbilt...
  11. Does Mike Thomas have any history with Alford? He should hire him. Really though I have to think he's in line for a decent high-major job somewhere. His overall resume is really pretty good and he's improved a lot as a coach since his first 4-5 years at Iowa.
  12. From what I've read, next year is going to be one of Stevens' most talented teams. They bring everyone back but Nored (who can't really play offense), add Rotnei Clarke and a top 150 guy with a solid class for their level overall. I don't think he's going anywhere. Of the guys that would make at least some sense to move to Illinois, I'd look at Grant, Kevin Stallings, Buzz Williams, Randy Bennett, Gregg Marshall. I think all would be safer than Smart with the exception of Bennett.
  13. Iowa back in front of Illinois in the standings. Ahhhhhhhh, get used to the view boys.
  14. Weber's postgame: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=V8KddpKgT2Q#! Damn, he completely knows he's a dead man walking. Blasted the [expletive] out of Leonard. From an outsider's perspective I agree with SSR. If I were an Illini fan I would prefer Grant and probably Marshall. I'm a little leery of a guy whose only head job was inheriting a really good mid-major team and sustaining it. Granted, he elevated them in terms of the tournament last year but they were also very fortunate. If I were Illinois I would want someone who built something in multiple places or at least elevated the program at more than one spot.
  15. I agree with this. Given the current state of the conference, that's a tough job to sell right now.
  16. Well, that certainly isn't true. Thanks Ron Guenther, Thad wasn't ready for a big gig...... Was Matta interviewed when they hired Weber?
  17. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-spt-0212-illinois-basketball--20120212,0,4658697.story Hopefully this is a signal that just barely making the tournament is not going to mean Weber's job is safe. Damn
  18. hahahahhaha I laughed. That was so fun to watch.
  19. In non-Indiana/Illinois news, this ranking system from ESPN seems to have some promise. Similar to Pomeroy but removes some of the flaws by capping blowout margins, giving credit for winning a game and de-weighting games played without key players. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7561413/bpi-college-basketball-power-index-explained
  20. Teague is going to cost them.
  21. What's the deal with Mike LaTulip? He shows up as committed to Illinois on Rivals but has no evaluation and his only offer is South Dakota State.
  22. I'm really pissed that Iowa blew both of those games with Purdue.
  23. Hell they could have continued doing it on that drive and had it make sense. Put 14 guys out there and give them the 5 yard penalty while the clock runs. The play on that last Giants 12 men on the field penalty took 8 seconds. I suppose if they thought it was deliberate with like 15 guys they could maybe call a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct.
  24. Do you have Romo in the hall of fame? Whaaaaa? He has similar/better stats than Manning. There's plenty of room between the "rings are what matters" crowd and completely ignoring them in favor of stats. Romo has been on pretty solid teams and has one playoff win in the Wild Card round before getting housed by the Vikings in a game where he had 4 turnovers. Eli has won two Super Bowls and had some pretty big moments. Come on. it's not baseball.
