  1. MLBTR Bernstein was alluding to this yesterday. Basically saying that the Sox were going all in and contacting a lot of different teams to cook up a big (both in teams/players as well as names) deal or two.
  2. I'll be glad to take that Kemp bum off their hands. Must we have the inevitable "I'll take their total stud guy in a trade, haha" post every time there's a rumor? That joke has been used here in basically every transaction thread for 7-8 years. Let it die. Anyways, that would be ideal.
  3. I would pay money to hear a tape of this. When B+B find them selves on the right side of an argument with morons, it's just classic radio. http://wscr.cbslocal.com/2010/07/28/boers-and-bernstein-full-show-17/ It begins in hour 4 around the 20 minute mark. There's a classic call at the 29 minute mark. Boers was doing the show from his house and they lost his feed during the storm so it was just Dan.
  4. I can never get enough of that.
  5. Not only that, but more than a couple of his INTs from last year were due to blown receiver routes and general inability by the receivers to make a play on the ball. It's no coincidence that when Aromashodu (the tallest receiver of the bunch) started making plays, Cutler's numbers improved. Martz likes those shorter, faster WR's though doesn't he? Those WR's that blew routes or didn't make plays last year are going to have far more complexities this year than they did under Turner.
  6. Yeah it seems pretty clear to me that there was some kind of falling out between Coble and the Northwestern coaching staff.
  7. ? Sorry to confuse, I shouldn't expect people to know my job. I'm a master control operator working on some FSN networks, and I do mostly Rockies games, some Pirates, some Mariners. The feeds go live hours before the game and there's where I saw it. Ah, gotcha.
  8. Is it strange that in his statement he thanked administration, fans and teammates but had no mention of Carmody or the coaches? And that Carmody only released two sentences?
  9. He's never played defense and now he doesn't have the explosiveness that was a big part of his game. The first step is gone. He's also extremely inefficient offensively and is likely to take too many shots. Forget the name. At best he's basically what Larry Hughes is now. At worst he's a chucker who plays no defense but thinks he's much better than he actually is, does not accept his role and becomes a distraction and headache to a first-year coach and young core. I don't see any reason for the risk. You have a team that's likely to win around 50 games. It's a young team that's made up of mostly good guys with a new coach who will try to instill a new defensive mindset and needs buy-in.
  10. I think there's a lot more downside than upside to this move for the Bulls. There's a reason he's having to go all out to sell himself and teams still don't want him.
  11. Oh my God that's horrifying.
  12. Yeah I used to think the same way as UMFan. I hated Edmonds for the first week or so he was a Cub while he sucked. Then he came up with some big hits and I absolutely loved the guy. It started to change during that huge Rockies comeback. I'm guessing you hate Jared Allen, right? If he got another DUI, was released and ended up with the Bears, you'd be amazed at how quickly you would like his calf roping. Favre is just the most extreme example I can imagine. I'm pretty sure he was my most hated athlete ever. Now I don't even get pissed about his drama or waffling about coming back. If he has a terrible year, that may change but if he's anything like last year I'll worship at his altar. The real lesson here though is that when you have to take some of your vacation in the summer, don't drink during a Cubs game then come home to watch videos and get on a message board.
  13. Bech, Maddow, Olbermann, Scarbrough, it simply does not matter. Never been a character in the history of the world whom I've hated and then loved so much. #4. #4. #4. #4. Stay with me, #4. Really though, nothing like whiskey and youtube videos to make me insane for football.
  14. Your political ideologies matter not while #4 is still in the division. Would think you'd have figured that out by now. It is cute that you guys think you can compete though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0_QeysGM08&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNIl1vsEQgU&feature=related
  15. By the way, Iowa offered Josh Oglesby. Sounds like he's kind of pissed they waited so long though. I wouldn't be surprised if he picks Illinois.
  16. Honestly I haven't been in love with a young Cubs positional player this much since, well I guess Geo so it's not that long. Still, he's so young I feel like Chris Hansen is going to walk into my basement when I'm pumped with some of his AB's or plays in the field.
  17. That's good to hear. I just wish Lou would remember that Theriot doesn't have to start at 2B every day. I'm really curious as to what will happen with Lee. I could see Jim trading him next week if we lose a few games or signing him to another 2-3 year deal.
  18. Really? I posted in the game thread that tonight was my favorite national broadcast I've heard in a long time. Years, maybe ever. Schulman (whom I love during college hoops), Orel and Bobby V were [expletive] awesome. They avoided cliche's, they got technical, they weren't afraid to question players/managers. It helped make that game outstanding until Lopez' HR.
  19. I've always loved Bobby V's personality but have to admit that I really know very little about his handling of a pitching staff or strategic approach. I was too young to know any different when he was with the Rangers and really didn't see the Mets enough or read about them enough to know. I really, really like the guy though and want to be all aboard his bandwagon. Any guy who pulls his disguise act and despises Steve Phillips is good enough for me.
  20. Jesus Kosuke, sometimes you don't look like you even see the ball against lefties. What was that? You know what, that sucks. Until the Lopez HR I enjoyed that game as much as any game all year. It was a good, dramatic, exciting game with great broadcasting and an energetic crowd. Then some bum hits a HR off of Schlitter and we lose.
  21. The best catcher in baseball has had some shitty throws tonight.
  22. Has anyone commented on how [expletive] awesome this broadcast has been? Schulman, Orel and Bobby V have been outstanding. Best national broadcast I can remember.
  23. I don't feel like I've been pleased with Nady in like two months. Hey, that a boy Xavier!
  24. What's his defensive scouting report/potential?
