  1. How does the NFL deal with HIPAA laws? They release injury reports every week.
  2. I don't like how the Cubs have handled their injuries and also the way they disclosed their injuries but think it has absolutely nothing to do with ticket sales. Wrigley will be sold out regardless of Mark Prior missing a month of the season or whatever the outcome of all this is.
  3. Here's a quote from the Tribune about Walker.
  4. I had seen this mentioned anywhere yet, so I'll include it here. This is from Sullivan's piece about the 2B/Walker controversy in today's Trib.
  5. I'm hoping Lee withdraws from the WBC and makes sure he's healthy for the 2006 MLB season.
  6. I think all the initial hand wringing over the first Paul Sullivan story were warranted even though some thought they were overractions. Many people are just so sick and tired of the way the Cubs organization deal with honesty, the media, and injuries.
  7. rotator cuff?
  8. Its been discussed in the Prior delayed again thread but I think this is newsworth even for its own thread.
  9. That is an absurdly foolish claim. WHIP=H+BB/IP 9 singles+ 0 BB/9 IP=1.0 WHIP 9 HR + 0 BB/9 IP=1.0 WHIP Next. Is this the "destroying" of the WHIP stat you talked about?
  10. I saw that too. It brought back some great memories. It was clearly a long single and Moises took his usual terrible route as he hit first base. He turned to too wide and was throw out on a bad throw. He hopped up, popped his shin guard off, and took his sweet time getting off the field.
  11. I'm glad Angelo didn't overpay for Randel El. There are other options as UK said, let's move on.
  12. There's no reason it has to be one or the other. It could be Hendry's actual valuation of Hill compared to Dunn even if the trade offer was not discussed. So what you are saying is that no one really knows for sure? I'm just trying to find out what the hard evidence on this report is because some people seem to be saying that it is a fact that Hendry would not have traded Hill for Dunn and others are treating it like its an off handed comment made by Miles that has no basis in fact. This was based on an actual quote, from Jim Hendry, sometime in the middle of the season - I could maybe find a link, but I'm lazy. It was some interview, and they were talking about the possibility of trading with the Reds. I believe they were specifically talking about Rich Hill as a trading chip, and if he would be traded for Austin Kearns or something, to which Hendry replied, "I wouldn't trade Hill for Dunn straight up." There was never an actual trade proposed, but it was still something Hendry actually said. IIRC, it was in the middle of a broadcast nearing the trading deadline and Len and Bob were asking him about upcoming moves, etc.
  13. Interesting read from Mike Spellman. He interviewed Bruce Miles and Scott Gregor (the Sox beat reporter). It gives some interesting behind the scenes at spring training info and they both offer their insight into the upcoming season. Here's the full article.
  14. Anybody can take stats to prove their point. You are taking Jones last years stats expecting him to NOT improve over last year. I like Walker too, but let's not "spin" stats please. . I don't see how those stats are "spun" at all.
  15. Bill Romanowski would be jealous.
  16. Reese's contract in voided following his disappearence from camp. Seemingly insignificant to the Cubs, but there's one tidbit in the article that might relate to the Cubs.
  17. If I were a stock market guy, I'd buy shares in Red Bull because that will be the choice of drink now more than already was in MLB.
  18. Terrence Metcalf signed a contract extention yesterday.
  19. For a 16 team league, I think that's a great draft.
  20. 26 pages for a spring training game? We are desperate for some baseball. At least, everyone got to join in on the win.
  21. I could see it being a great place for a corporate outing, bachelor party, etc. But for rabid Cub fans, like most here, its hardly a good way to see the game. You feel so disconnected from the atmosphere and the flow of the game. It was a cool one time only experience but not anything that I would seek out tickets for.
  22. Moises Alou has made a career out of hitting fastballs. Yet, every team in baseball still throws them. If he sees a breaking ball, he hits a check swing dribbler through the infield.
