  1. Here's another article about Grissom from cubs.com
  2. when has he shown up his teammates? :? Todd Walker last year.
  3. We've seen Hendry usually only going the pitching route with the "low risk/high reward", but I don't see any reason why that can't be extended to a hitter. Besides with Marquis Grissom potential getting the 4th/5th OF spot, the team can definitely do better.
  4. Are we due for the 2006 Injury Update Thread?
  5. Is there some commaraderie amongst the beat reporters? Do you guys joke around with each other, etc. How many reporters are usually with you on a daily basis?
  6. didn't recognize him at first. Over the past two offseason, he's a whole new man. Please stay healthy.
  7. I dont think that his production+gate value will even equal a million bucks anymore. He's pretty much way out of the public eye at this point. Sosa is no longer a draw anywhere. I hate using ESPN as a barometer but Sosa's news of retirement was 15 minutes into this morning's Sportscenter. If he was significant he would have easily been near the beginning of the show.
  8. The Jets are releasing Ty Law. A lot of people are pushing for depth in the secondary, Law would clearly add that at cornerback. He'll come at a pretty steep price and he isn't getting any younger, but he's still a very good CB.
  9. Here's the latest article from Mr. Miles.
  10. Is this some sort of contest to see who can show up to camp in worse shape? Dempster looks a little plump too.
  11. What does your work schedule look like during Spring Training? Are you with the travel from Feb. 15th through the end? How many articles a week will you be writing? Keep up the great work. Busy day today. Three stories for Thursday's paper. I'm here from Feb. 13 until the end. My family visits in the middle of March, so that's nice. I usually write a main story and a "notebook" every day down here. Sometimes it's three stories. It's good duty in very nice weather. So no complaints here. Thanks for the response, even though my question didn't make any sense. :? We're all looking forward to your updates.
  12. Well, Rusch did get a fat contract this off season.
  13. I'm hoping its just an unflattering picture.
  14. nice work on the question.

  16. I like the idea of the media put the managements' feet to the fire in regards to the handling of the Kerry Wood situation. I hope Wood is healthy and ready to go at the beginning of April, but if he's not, Hendry, Baker, Rothschild etc. should be asked the tough questions.
  17. Dunn HASN'T done anything (no pun intended) to show he is a "difference maker". He hasn't improve the Reds since he's been there (granted not many players could improve that team). Granted Dunn hits a few out, and walk a few times, but in no way would I consider Dunn a "difference maker" until he proves it. What else exactly would he have to do to be a difference maker? How about becoming....I don't know....a COMPLETE player? Or...helping the Reds WIN MORE GAMES....maybe.....doing those things. No doubt Dunn is a GIFTED POWER THREAT, but having power doesn't mean he is a "difference maker." Who would you consider to be a difference maker? uh........Albert Pujols.....Alex Rodriguez....Barry Bonds? I'm sorry if I don't view Dunn as "God's golden boy of baseball," but I am not at all convince he would be the "final" piece to a puzzle, a great piece, just not the "final" piece. Those 3 are obvious. How many players in MLB today would be considered "complete players" by your definition. I'd guess under 10. Those guys are extremely hard to come by, so most teams have to take what they can get.
  18. Walker is a great number 2 hitter because of his OBP, not for ridiculous reasons like bunting over runners. If Pierre is as fast as advertised he should be able to get to 2nd base on his own, not by taking the bat out of the hands of a solid hitter like Walker.
  19. Curling is awesome. Currently, I'm watching the U.S. Women vs. Japan.
  20. Todd Walker OBP: .355 Alfonso Soriano OBP: .309 That looks pretty good at "advancing the runner".
  21. Grant DePorter sure knows how to get headlines.
