  1. that's a lot of dough. Many teams around the league aren't gonna be too happy with this. P.S. Since when are the Marlins a generous team?
  2. The run wouldn't count, would it? According to the rule book a player may be substituted if a player injures himself rounding the bases and can not continue. So 25 man roster and 30 round magazine you do the math  Gabe Kapler ruptured his Achilles last year on a HR.
  3. 2003 was the first year teams from different league but the same divisions didn't play each other. Since the beginning of interleague play, the Cubs had only played the AL Central, MLB has mixed in the other two divisions since 2003.
  4. Are we sure the broken hand didn't happen before the season started? That would explain a few things.
  5. Did anybody from NSBB go the Convention? We haven't really gotten any updates.
  6. But at least Morrisey put the blame on the defense where it belonged, Downey inexplicably blames it on Rex! Come on! The Bears season is over because Steve Smith ripped up our D. Downey is the same hack who was supporting Kyle Orton 100% when all the Grossman/Orton talking was heating up. He wrote numerous columns about how important it was to keep a winning QB in the lineup, etc. As soon as Grossman came in the Atlanta, he wrote an article doing a complete 180. Its nice to see he's changed his mind again. Anyone who thinks Kyle Orton would have done a better job last night, has no clue how to evaluate QB talent, especially Mike Downey.
  7. don't forget claiming to not make excuses while making a dozen or so I really don't want to sound like I'm defending Lovie Smith here, but as I watched his press conference, it was clear that he really wasn't making excuses. He was just explaining why they lost. Maybe there isn't a big difference but he was trying to be honest. So you think he's too stupid to know that not double covering smith was a horrible, horrible coaching mistake? all he said as a reason for losing was "they played better." He never attempted to point to the actual reasons they scored so many points He didn't get into any adjustments the coaching staff made during the game. He addressed Steve Smith by saying they planned on containing him and they simply didn't get the job done. You can take that statement and lay it at the players' feet or an indictment of the coaching staff.
  8. I think the Bears need to completely start over at TE. Draft one early. Sign a FA. Draft one late. I don't think they need a possession WR. I really don't know what that means. I think Muhammad, Berrian, and Bradley are a very good start. I don't understand the love for Randle El. He's not better than the first 2 and I wouldn't want to play him over a healthy Bradley. And you still have Currie. I don't want to pay Twan for his punt returning abilities and being a #4 WR. Gage needs to go, though. I agree with the defensive needs. Brown and McGowan are a good start at SS. Harris should be back at FS. It would be nice to get a veteran FA to start over Harris though. I want a new SS. You want to get rid of Mike Brown? Why? Replace with who? Brown cannot stay on the field, even after taking 7 weeks off for what should have been a very meh injury. He's great when healthy, but in football (unlike baseball), every game means so much more, and you can't rely on a guy who just cannot complete a season (or a PLAYOFF game) in that kind of role. The SS in that defense is so important, and it has to be played by a regular, not a backup. I'm not saying spend money on a SS. Draft a SS on day one, along with a TE and a O lineman. No matter what we say, there's no way the Bears will not have Mike Brown on there team starting the 2006 season. I'm not sure if us fans, truly know the extent of the injury. For the first two weeks that he missed, the media still wasn't sure what he was suffering from. I'd rather have an injured player on the bench than an injured player on the field. I'd rather have a hurt player on the field than on the bench or in the locker room. I think this team has bigger holes to fill than SS and I hope the front office addresses those first.

  10. The Bears are 0-3 at home in playoffs since 1991.

  12. I like Fassano out of ND.
  13. 27 rushing atts/41 pass atts today.
  14. Charles Tillman is bad against fast, shifty wideouts. He can cover the Moss type wideouts who are bigger, but not as quick. No idea why Riviera put him on Smith. In fact, I have no idea why Smith wasn't double teamed from the start. Make DeShaun I'm Soft Foster beat you. What an idiotic game plan bu Chico, who might have kept himself here after today's crapfest. The Panthers have no other threats from WR, TE's etc. There's no reason not to shade a safety over the top of Smith. Who's gonna beat you Keith Magnum? Give me break.
  15. Lovie Smith's press conference: -didn't play well enough to win -offensively, 21pts would have been enough normally -Rex through well, Berrian did well -defensively, planned for no big plays -planned to stop smith but didn't happen -no excuses, they played better -planning for next year, looking for plan -Tillman-more safety help on some of those plays -3 deep zone on Smith's big plays -substitution problem not an issue on goalline TD -had a chance to win at end He's taken lesson from the Jim Hendry school of speaking while saying nothing.
  16. 0 runs in their first drive, which included two deep passes. Unbelievable. I agree 100%. I like streching the field, I really do, but as US said, put together a good solid driver right there and the dynamic of the game changes there.
  17. As long as it includes Ron Turner's baffling playcalling and Ron Riviera's nonexistent scheme, and does not include second guessing Kyle/Rex, let it commence. After this game I'm kind of hoping Riviera leaves. It almost looked like he didn't even really prepare for this game. His opportunities are dwindling unless its St. Louis.
  18. Turner deserves to get ripped. Grossman threw 41 times! Granted, a lot of that is because the Bears were playing catch up. But it seemed to me, the Bears were throwing early because Carolina wasn't "expecting it".
  19. As long as it includes Ron Turner's baffling playcalling and Ron Riviera's nonexistent scheme, and does not include second guessing Kyle/Rex, let it commence. they were talking mostly about coaching and lack of depth in the secondary. also the injuries, nothing about Rex. He is getting interviewing right now though...
  20. 12 rec 218 yds 2 TDs for Steve Smith. :wall:
  21. the media rip session has already started on Comcast. Rightfully so.
  22. very disappointing game. I've heard people compare this team to the '84 Bears. I hope that true. All of the key people on defense are back except for Azumah, the majority of the mediocore offense is back. Let's hope this season is a step stoning to a monster 2006. I sure hope it doesn't turn out like 2002.
  23. This is the one injury that really scares me. I don't have much faith in McKie as the lead blocker, and with the run heavy offense I'm sure the Bears are gonna run today, that makes for trouble. I hope I'm wrong.
  24. I've got those damn butterflies and I'm not even playing.
