  1. thought that was gonna squeeze into the net.
  2. Giving Jim Hendry a 2 year extention at the beginning of the 2006 season is going to be an obstacle in finding a good replacement for Baker. GM's and Managers have a tendancy to be tied together contractually. This new manager will only have 2 years under Hendry and then we're in the position of hiring a new GM who will an inherit a manager that he didn't hire. Also, I can't imagine too many managers with MLB experience would be willing to only sign a 2 year deal for to match up with Hendry's remaining 2 years. Hendry's extention created an unnecessary problem by having to hire a new manager with many stipulations.
  3. We're about due for a Barrett act like a jerk game. Perfect pitcher on the mound for it. If you're gonna lose, at least make it fun to watch.
  4. I want to see France win against Portugal just to see Ronaldo crying, whiny mug all over my tv.
  5. If he's such a stud, why did Williams trade for Vazquez and block McCarthy from the starting rotation? Not only for this season but unless he moves one of his starting five, next year as well.
  6. They are both former White Sox and both have made comments about not enjoying their time on the southside.
  7. HawkCub has a guy who is not in the bigs anymore. Its tough to win that way.
  8. Prior K's Berkman. Hopefully "Good Prior" shows up today.
  9. I'm still baffled Miller's current deal didn't include some sort of team/mutual option. I'm assuming the Cubs didn't see the need to include one because they thought Miller would have been back much sooner than he actually will be.
  10. He's doing a nice job of being the bullpen warmup protecter of foul balls guy.
  11. Goodbye Chris Thompson.
  12. I wish the times on all those games were reversed.
  13. FIFA removing some officials from the next 3 rounds.
  14. Now its 16-40 in our last 56 games!
  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=2118859 That's awesome.
  16. So, these are what the game threads become without Fred?
  17. a bit pricier, but easiest is taking a cab.
  18. Len, Thanks for dropping in. I hope you and Bob keep giving this team hell for how terrible they're playing.
  19. Is Will Ohman ready to step into the mediocore lefthanded reliever role and berate Brenly?
  20. Len said something in the pregame show about Nevin seeing sometime this week in LF without Freddy Bynum going down with his injury. So much for the "I like guys that catch the ball" nonsense. If Nevin is gonna play some LF why not put him in RF against lefties so Jones doesn't embarass himself.
  21. I agree with him in that regard. I think the referees have, for the most part, been way too quick to hand out yellow cards. Some cards are warranted and necessary but the referee must look at the context of the game before handing out a yellow card. For anybody that watched, the referee for the Brazil-Japan match was excellent. Also, even though he handed out 6 yellow cards, the ref for the Argentina-Mexico match was excellent as well. The referees aren't supposed to be noticed on the field but they have become the story of the World Cup. I don't necessarily think that the referee needs to talk to every player but they don't need to hand out yellow cards like they are going out of style. I agree with he was saying but he makes the point of saying it in numerous times in every single broadcast. Its a valid point but he's beating a dead horse.
