  1. Sorry Jim talking in the third person, only makes you look like a bigger jerk. Jim likes spicy chicken.
  2. Wow, the Houston GM looks like a moron for making this comment: I'd like to have a player who's struggling yet still putting up a .890 OPS. Boy, his batting average sure is low, he must suck this year.
  3. He must have been pretty wasted if he was still hungover at 8:00 PM.
  4. How can Hendry say this? He's the one who started all this "speculation" by saying things would be evaluated over the All-Star Break. He's full of crap.
  5. C'mon NBC.
  6. Bruce, what are you doing this week with so much time off?
  7. In addition to Adu, the PTI fact-checker(s) would be in the gravely mistaken group. Certainly possible, but I'd like to think the people who write the questions for a national sports show do their homework. I hope you're not questioning Stat Boy.
  8. Here's what wikipedia says about the history of "caps".
  9. One of the potential suitors for Dusty Baker managerial geniusness looks like they are out of the running.
  10. Any published reports about what was said to Zidane?
  11. Garland has a no-trade clause through the remainder of this year and he's been terrible on top of that.
  12. Ohman's been on this team since late 2004, it's time to drop the "kid" gloves with him. Novoa is also in his 2nd full year on this team. Just shut the hell up and manage the team to a 58-104 record. Thanks, Dusty. Ohman was actually pitching for the Cubs in 2000 and 2001.
  13. Thanks for reminding me. Have u had any experience/success getting general public tickets? I can imagine it being quite difficult with 8 games and about 20,000 tickets per game available. Last year, I bought 4 tickets in 111 for $80 a pop. I was on-line, picked tickets, processed and paid within 10 minutes.
  14. I wouldn't be shocked to see a cut in payroll in '07. I'm not saying we'll see a 50 million dollar payroll but something in the 85 million dollar area. The Tribsters have forked over a lot of cash the last three years and have seen a terrible product on the field.
  15. Its inexcusable not to let Rich Hill finally pitch consistently for the Cubs in the second half of this pathetic season. Don't yank him between Iowa, the rotation, long relief. Let him start for 10 consecutive times through the rotation without any fear of getting sent back down. He's at the point, with his age, that this is make or break time. Then again, Hendry might call him up, its a whole other thing to see if Baker wants to use him. Especially if he's protecting his overall career W-L record.
  16. I wasn't crazy how high Hester was drafted but now I'm excited about his big play ability on special teams.
  17. I need only go to last night's game with the Brewers to show how Lazy heis. Look at what Paul Sullivan of the TRIB wrote: Kool-aid drinkers can't find stats for 'playing the game right' or 'giving it your all'. Better just to look at numbers and close your eyes to the rest. One wonders how they are evaluated on their jobs. No doubt expect a cookie for just showing up. You're citing a Paul Sullivan article as evidence that Ramirez is lazy? That he has no baseball sense? From the quotes in that article, that's not what Baker is saying, that what Sullivan is framing, since ripping Ramirez is starting to gain steam on radio talk shows where the average caller has an IQ roughly equivalent to their pant size. You've got to be kidding me. It's such a Chicago thing that every time a team struggles, fans have to find a scapegoat and then use reasons like "playing the game right" and "heart" to back up irrational conclusions about good players struggling for half a season. Unless he's going out there with an oar instead of a bat, and a stapler instead of a glove, he's playing the game "the right way". Everything else is a matter of perception. You do realize that during 2004 and 2005 he put up fantastic numbers despite dealing with nagging injuries? His talent didn't just evaporate. He's having a rough year at the same time the Cubs are having an abysmal year. There's no reason to toss him under the bus and act like he's the reason we're bad. Did you see the play the other night?
  18. What a pathetic manager. How can he possibly make an excuse for Ramirez on that play? He hustled at the wrong time? Give me a break.
  19. I know Neifi gets ripped plenty already but my god, he looks terrible everytime he steps into the batters box.
  20. I'm happy for Nomar.
  21. I thought this was true as well. I've flipped between ESPN and Univision during moments of the match and the feed is exactly the same.
  22. they actually gave the ref from the U.S.-Italy match another one? Unbelievable. Its the semi-final, not some group game.
