  1. I hope Walker discusses his time in Chicago soon, it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say.
  2. please don't put Neifi out there everyday. theriot should start 6 days a week.
  3. not surprised by the move, at least the pitcher is young and strikes out batters at a decent rate.
  4. So was Carpenter, no? Indeed he was good. Now if the Cubs were facing a young, lefty pitcher in his first big league stat, then I would be concerned.
  5. I really hope the Cubs just trade Maddux. If they get anything of any value in return, great. If they get some major league ready players, great. If they get average minor leaguers, great. Maddux serves very little purpose on this team for the remainder of the 2006 season and getting anything for him is beneficial for this organization. I'm won't be shocked if Maddux is still with the team tomorrow night, if that happens, I fully expect him to be in a Cubs uniform for the 2007 season as well. Hendry has stated numerous times that he was caught off guard by the Prior injury last offseason and I don't see him heading into next year with a lack of starting pitching. Not that this particular pitching will be any good whatsoever (Maddux, Rusch, etc.), but the GM and manager should have their choice of the 5 man rotation from plenty of arms.
  6. They were swept in 4 games, so it was just like their World Series, too. :P LOL, that was funny and witty. I tip my hat to you, sir. ma'am
  7. I really hope Hendry doesn't think that's the reason they're playing better.
  8. LaRussa uses Marquis to pinch hit, Dusty should, at worst, consider Zambrano for the same role when it presents itself.
  9. If Ramirez opts out, Hendry will have to put together a monster off season for this team to being even close to contention next year. With the down free agent market and inability of Hendry to sign good FA's, I'm cringing already.
  10. That guy is always at Cub-Cards games. My cardinal buddies call him "Sign Guy", he does it just to get on tv, they all find him old and played out.
  11. Best in the business? at what? name dropping? They ALL drop names. Tell me you wouldn't do the same to fill in a 3 hour broadcast if you had an 11-year career in MLB and 14 years in the booth to draw upon. Everyone announcer does and every person does it, but he's completely over the top with his pointless stories and hanging out with random celebrities/politicians. He was an average color guy when he was paired w/Rooney, now he's a pretty bad play-by-play guy. On top of it all, he has to carry Chris Singleton for three hours, who is as bad as Joe Carter ever was.
  12. Are you a member of that board? Is it decent?
  13. Best in the business? at what? name dropping?
  14. Hendry also mentioned Lee's injury as a reason to let Baker manage the rest of the year.
  15. Six weeks from today, or six weeks of the season? A banged up Jones doesn't bother me, unless of course this is an attempt to hold-out without holding out. I wanted Benson starting anyway, in case he really is a franchise type back. Because I think TJ is just second tier. As long as he's back in time to contribute in the regular season, I don't care about this. I would be more concerned if somebody I projected as a starter missed time. I'm not sure, re-the six weeks. Heard it in the background. I agree. I think that Benson was going to start in any event. I heard the same thing and I think the 6 weeks Chocolate heard was referring to the 6 weeks that the Bears have to make a decision about Jones because he's been placed on the PUP list. I really don't know specifics about how the list works but the Bears maybe have 6 weeks to to decide to put him on IR or activate him to the active 53 man roster.
  16. while I don't want yet another injury riddled season for yet another one of my teams, this could be a blessing in disguise. positional controversies in training camp tend to tear teams apart . this goes along way to eliminating said controversy which was already starting to bubble over. As long as Benson is able to step up an do a good job filling the RB spot, you might be right. If he gets hurt, or he's struggling then this team could be in real trouble offensively.
  17. Of all the players of his generation, he will be the most difficult for the USMNT to replace. IMO he was far more important than Reyna, and what's worse is that while we have some midfield talent to replace Reyna, we don't have anyone ready to replace McB. Do you guys think that Johnson has enought talent to fill that role?
  18. Please don't be 2002 all over again.
  19. Go Bears!
