  1. I also gotta make mention that Len's HR call has gotten Substanially better
  2. I was going to say how nice it would be for Jones to get the GW HR but I'll take Lee
  3. They're not premature, because most people were saying that 4 months ago when he was signed. He has been bad for the last couple years. Odds are he will be bad for the next few. And Jones 3 year splits in April.... .335 .396 .518 .914 Less then 4 games isn't premature for someone new to the NL? Wow, talk about high expectations. BTW TT I don't trust you... :D
  4. WTG YOGI!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!
  5. CTRL - D I agree booing is stupid. What does CTRL -D mean?
  6. Cusak trying to defend his White Sox attitudes
  7. and there I go jinxing him :D
  8. BTW, Murton hasn't gotten a hit since opening day...he should be getting booed too under the same logic.
  9. All these comments about how much Jones sucks and how we wasted signing him are not only a little premature but a LOT premature. Pujols is 0-7 in this series, and he makes more then Jones so his contract must be worse. If Jones goes another week without getting a hit I will change my SN to douchebagJones for the rest of his contract. Its ridiculous to boo Jones after less then 4 full games.
  10. Yes because those 3 deals are the reason the Cubs aren't expected to win. Real franchise cornerstones there. That's over 10% of the payroll that's sunk into mediocrity, though. You can't gripe about the cheapness of the TribCo if they give a GM $95m and he uses up a 10% chunk of it on bad players. Where would we be if that 10% was given to only the good players? IMO those 3 deals aren't as "horrible" as one would think at first glance. It's the number of years that they have signed for that's the biggest sticking point. However, as evidenced, Hendry can get rid of contracts fairly effectively and should he can't trade them, waiving them would be a huge cost that would make it difficult.
  11. I think that Maddux knew that if he pitched to contact today he wouldn't get hurt like he would later in the year, hence the hard hit balls staying in the park. What I liked was all the movement he had today. Being 1st game out and hard to grip the ball in cold weather, his movement was amazing.
  12. Hopefully this will be noticed for his move up in the order for the #2 spot so Walk can move between AR & Barrett and Jones can ease into the NL in the 8th spot.
  13. Actually for those with Dish Network (and some digi cable I'm sure) have the Extra Innings package for free for the 1st week. The Cubs/Cards game will be on here (west coast) on the Dish and I have the DVR set!
  14. Yes because those 3 deals are the reason the Cubs aren't expected to win. Real franchise cornerstones there.
  15. I will still subscribe to good pitching will beat any sort of OBP you put up there. Remember, a good OBP is NOT getting on base the majority of the time. What is that attributed to? Good Pitching. We haven't seen good pitching yet this season.
  16. Try 9:30 am west coast time when you get off that morning at 4am!
  17. So if I understand this correctly, Hendry's biggest fault as the GM is the thinning of the farm system. Shouldn't we be blaming that on his sucessor rather then him considering it was Hendry that built the farm system to the heights that it tumbled from? For those Hendry detractors I am curious as to the specific things that Hendry has done wrong with. Thus far I have read that he misfired on FA acquistions thinned the farm system (?), and overpaid for mediocrity. IMO the contracts he has been accused of overpaying for were small to begin with and had little effect on the overall payroll or team. I can't think of one core player the Hendry overpaid. Regardless of whether we think that a particular player is overpaid (i.e. Jones) the contracts are always (seemingly) at market value. Jones got similar money as Encarncion and other FA middle of the road OF. Look at Howry's contract compared to Farnsworth. Should we be upset with Hendry's contracts or the market that creates them?
  18. Of COurse Arron Harang didn't do well for me today
  19. POssibly but with no outs & top of the order up no need to push it
  20. He was at first but now he seems to be wild and not harnassing his stuff. Little movement thus far.
  21. It was NOT routine, It was a line drive. Now Jones probably should have had it but it was hit hard.
