  1. I assume PCA is just getting rest and it’s not injury related?
  2. 2 runs in 26 innings vs these 4 starters, their mean ERA averages out into the mid-high 2’s, not .7 and change. Perhaps it’s just bad timing, they scored 9 total runs vs a terrible Rockies staff but these are the guys you’ll be facing in October. More feast or famine that caused them to underperform their pythag win record by 12 combined games thanks to lopsided wins, which unlike 23 and 24 I think they’re good enough to keep that feast ratio high enough. they’ll break out it, hopefully the bullpen doesn’t, the degree of that depends on Suzuki and Busch maintaining a high 800’s OPS to an extent. The BABIP luck hasn’t been on their side. Besides another starting pitcher, they could use another quality bench guy to give the every day guys some rest too.
  3. It’s a natural overreaction to annoying losses every other day. It’s not time to panic yet, just an interesting trend that’s hopefully just my Cubs paranoia blowing things out of proportion.
  4. They certainly are. With eras from 3.4, 2.8-2.9 and 2.16 that means that they allow more than 2 runs in 27 innings or so before facing the cubs, what we consider a potent lineup. You’d think all 4 starters wouldn’t all have lowered their ERAs in the last week. hopefully it’s nothing more than a relative slump that started vs the Rockies and something they’ll break out of. Maybe aim for 2 or 3 runs instead of 0-1 vs these top end pitchers. You’ll need that in the playoffs.
  5. Are we supposed to just shrug our shoulders? Just a coincidence they’ve scored 2 of less runs in 7/13 games vs teams 10+ games over 500 and all consecutively? There’s a reason they were picked to win between 88-90 games and with Steele at that. Acknowledging they’re a good to maybe a very good team but a bit flawed relative to the other top contenders is a touchy subject apparently.
  6. I’m not at all saying that. They’ve blown me away so far. The problem is when you have scoring outputs of 8, 0, 7, 1, 6, 0, 3, that’s 4 games where your offense gave you little to no chance of winning. It’s great for that run differential and pythag win record, which would’ve made the cubs a playoff team in 23 and 24 if that’s how they calculates wins and losses but unfortunately it’s not. I think the cubs are a good team and bound for playoffs, I’m not sold on them making a playoff deep run as of right now which has created 4 pages of posts telling me how wrong I am. It’s not that deep and I hope they make me look stupid the rest of the season. Could be as simple as bad luck facing every teams TOR starters, which would mean the cubs need Shotah back badly and another arm acuired at the deadline for less unfavorable matchups in a playoff series.
  7. Reds are 34-33, that’s true. If they lose today that record drops to 6-10. I got to 4-9 by calculating their opponents records at the time they played them. Clearly to you and many others it’s just a random trend and nothing to look at, and I hope you’re all correct and they make me look stupid the rest of the year,
  8. Another chicken sh!t effort by the offense. 2 PCA hits/4 games worth of ABs with RISP.
  9. We’re on the same level as the dodgers and Mets and it’s blasphemy to even question that narrative.
  10. PCA is the only guy with a hit with RISP in the last 2 games.
  11. You could’ve asked that last April when they started 17-10. When Carson Kelly turns Into babe Ruth again and this team can scrap together more than a run on an average night vs every top end pitcher, I’ll retract my statement.
  12. The Mets, tigers and dodgers are playing.333 ball vs above 500 teams for a month and half too?
  13. And 4-8, soon to be 4-9 vs good teams, the teams you’ll be playing in October.
  14. Cubs are bending over once again vs an Above 500 team like they’ve been doing since April 23rd.
  15. Are the Giants considered a top team? That’ll make it 4 straight series they’ve dropped vs the Mets Phillies giants and now Tigers.
  16. One of the most frustrating games I’ve be ever watched. I bet they call fan interference on a homerun to tie it up hit into the 3rd row of the outfield seats to end the game, and or there’s a dead ball after a 110 mph fly ball with a 420 ft trajectory hits a seagull and they call it a dead ball with the way things have been going for Detroit.
  17. Horton’s got away with a number of pitches throw dead center for outs.
  18. Already lost 2/3 to the giants Phillies and Mets, make a statement please.
  19. No runs in an inning where 4 guys reach base. What a chicken shiza call.
  20. I appreciate the long, detailed explanation. I’d this something that he can improve on in the future or he simply doesn’t see the ball well vs left handers and there’s little he or the coaches can fix? It limits your offense 3/10 games or so.
  21. Maybe or because of? Anyways, if he’s your future everyday 1st baseman I’d like to see some more at bats he lefties. He can’t be much worse than Justin Turners sub 600 OPS, and in 100 PAs last season was a lot better too.
  22. Still 23rd in bwar despite being 10th in ERA with a team era .3 runs above league average, inspite of those guys listed. Their stench still lingers.
