  1. 4-5 is acceptable. I’d love 5-4 to make a statement since losing 6/9 to the giants Phillies and Mets left me with a sour taste.
  2. Cubs got one back from Cincy on Saturday may 24th where our XBA Was 150 points higher or something like that in a 6-4 loss.
  3. Vs a right handed starter I expect more than zero runs. PCA becomes Justin Turner vs lefties. Hopefully Tucker is in the lineup and healed.
  4. He has an OPS of 587 vs lefties vs 973 vs righties. It’s a common theme.
  5. Javy regressed in 2020. He posted an even higher 6.6 WAR in 2019 then his 6.4 in 2018. With him, Bryant still peaking, a well behaved, less distracted Russell who’d perform at a high level, especially better than Descalso and Darvish and Heyward playing up to their contracts then things might have gone differently. It’s a matter of playing performing relative to their projections that never happened. the bats are a mystery though. Is it the wrigley day games wearing out players by September? Cubs were able to withstand it in 2016 thanks to age and a deep bench getting the regulars needed rest if it’s indeed a culprit.
  6. Trout Betts Harper at the time were all better. the 4 things that stick out most to me are Russell’s off the field, baby mamma drama that effected his on the field performance and availability with his self imposed distraction to where we never got see him fully developed, since he was counted on much like Bryant. Bryant of course and bad contracts and or underperforming players like Darvish and Heyward relative to expectations. If Darvish is that TOR arm they laid him to be then 2018 annd 19 end differently. Heyward was paid as a 4-6 WAR guy and topped out at 2.3? Immediately forgot how to hit when he put on a cubs uniform. That’s 4 supposed difference makers we envisioned if you told us they’d all be cubs in October of 2015 and never panned out. as far as development what we didn’t get from Almora and perhaps Schwarber, Javy and Contreras made up for that in a big way
  7. I wouldn’t say top 3 but definitely in the top 10 discussion. If Heyward comes anywhere near playing up to his contract and KB extends his peak a few years then who knows if there’s another World Series in them. Add Russel to that list for non baseball reasons.
  8. They always are. They’ll forever be a pain in the ass no matter how good or bad they are when the cubs are on the schedule.
  9. Probably the same logic used sending the Cardinals $50 million in cash and Arenado for 4 prospects, all 4 either traded or DFA’d, a bad trade not just in hindsight but at the time too, It either takes a complete idiot or a genius to see why they do the things they do. KB had a lengthy injury history and had been trending downwards ever season since 2017 at that.
  10. Rockies are now 9-50 with a record 22 consecutive series losses.
  11. Considering he took he took at bats after the slide and doubled, we all hope so.
  12. Took 2 at bats after the slide and even doubled. What should I make of this?
  13. Dansby subtracting from his 154 batting average with 2 outs RISP.
  14. Tucker’s gone 8 games without an XBH. It’s time. Good to see PCA lay off the change ups and off speed stuff nowhere near the plate yesterday. Time for the bats to wake up.
  15. Complete sarcasm. I’ll try to be more absurd next time. The blown saves and defensive miscues are only a problem when you’re 28-30 like last year and the offense couldn’t put teams away, creating more opportunities to lose those tight games you want back.
  16. That’s my point. What was the dodgers win expectancy before Tanner Scott threw a fastball right down the middle to Amaya? That’s the nature of a 162 game season.
  17. I’m sure tanner scott would like that meatball he threw to Amaya back as well. It happens. I’d like the bats to come alive so the late inning pen arms can rest.
  18. If they miss the playoffs or even a higher seed by 1 game and none of the higher seeded teams blew a save thanks to a bad pitch selection, then the subplot is no laughing matter.
  19. You got me. He hasn’t had an extra base hit in 8 games. That’s where I’m going.
  20. 13 runs in 5 games, 4 wins. Last week 51 runs in 6 games, 4 wins.
