  1. Is there any other examples in baseball of all star caliber 1st baseman that bat almost exclusively vs right handed pitchers?
  2. I wonder what their splits are for starters vs relievers.
  3. Any word on Ben Brown? Is he at least trying to develop a changeup?
  4. Kelly doesn’t press nearly as much with RISP, CC is probably going back to what worked, albeit that’s when Kelly was mashing 2 months ago.
  5. It is. With a 3.3 ERA going into yesterday’s game you’d think 2-3 runs in 6 innings would be a reasonable expectation with this offense. He allowed 11 runs in his last 22 innings as well. Hopefully Boyd can keep them in the game today.
  6. I’ve been assured there’s nothing to see here and my eyes are deceiving me with that second ranked NL wRC+ vs left handed pitchers. Don’t know if I can find a stat that separates from starters from relievers though. If true, no reason they won’t get to Fried.
  7. No Busch today? Cubs are second in the national league in wRC+ vs left handed pitchers so there should be no problem scoring at least a few runs off of Fried today to make up for last nights shut out Go Mathew Boyd.
  8. Get ready to hear about that wRC+ Vs left handed pitchers that was inflated by an insane April. We need that reassurance that our eyes are deceiving us.
  9. Last night was the fake team. The fake team has scored 12 runs in the last 60 innings vs left handed starting pitchers. The real team will show up vs Max Fried this afternoon and Carson Kelly will club 3 homers in as many at bats. They’ll put that 153 wRC+ in April vs lefties handed handed pitchers to good use this afternoon.
  10. I don’t expect things to be any different tomorrow either unless Boyd completely blanks them.
  11. Probably the most predictably garbage performance I’ve seen all year. This game was lost on paper. Checked all the boxes.
  12. It’s a shame they couldn’t put that 151 wRC+ vs left handed pitchers in April to good use vs Rodon, which is just as relevant now as it was 3 months ago.
  13. Cubs have to be due to beat a left handed starter and take a 3 game set from a playoff caliber team are they not? If the twins scrub right handers held the Cubs to 3 runs you’d think the randomness element would be on our side. I’m giving this optimism thing a shot.
  14. I could be wrong here but didn’t ownership veto Jed from going after Bregman because of deferrals? That $40 million better be in a piggy bank for a Tucker extension if ownership slashed payroll to make extending him more palatable to Tom. Now McGuire will be DFA’d when Amaya comes back next Thursday who’s our second best bench bat ATM.
  15. I came here to bash Happ too. That’ll be the theme of tomorrow’s game thread.
