  1. Which is a full run less then April, and not enough to overcome an at best average rotation as currently constructed, and the Sox offense has been playing like the April cubs since the all star breaks.
  2. Just embarrassing. They’re not even competitive in half of their games. They’ve lost by at least 4 runs in half 5 of their last 10 games including tonight.
  3. Cubs are 5 solo homeruns away from being back in this, until the Whitesox/April cubs add anther digit to the score board in the bottom half of the inning.
  4. That .001 edge in batting average vs sinkers from Brujan over Shaw is well worth giving him the start.
  5. Giving the Whitesox and their piece of horsefeathers fanbase the satisfaction of winning their World Series doesn’t sit well with me.
  6. Will the cubs run differential still be +100 after the brewers series is the real question, but it could change toward by Sunday every quickly.
  7. No deficit is too much for the cubs. They raked in April. They’ll ve fine.
  8. Somehow the cubs run into these Southside pieces of horsefeathers the first time in 3 years they’re on a hot streak.
  9. I like the upside there but my question is what do they do with Horton next season when Steele comes back with another year of control? Steele Boyd Shota Taillon and Horton are already slotted in. It’s nice to have an extra arm, Cubs could definitely use one but the year of control tax causes an interesting dynamic next year instead of a rental and how do they handle the surplus of arms? if we’re talking Gore then Horton would probably be included in a package for him and this isn’t a dilemma.
  10. I want Busch hitting 5th again. He gives Suzuki and PCA more protection and there’ll be less solo shots with him putting pitches over the fence with runners on.
  11. He’s a ticking tune bomb especially when the when the winds is blowing out. Outside of Boyd and Shota, the entire rotation you can say the same for. Cubs are 9-2 when Shots and Boyd pitch since June 17 and 6-12 with everyone else and that’s thanks to the changing weather conditions and the offense no longer scoring at a clip of 6 runs/game back in April. this shouldn’t surprise anyone, especially after that soft 18 game stretch from May-June.
  12. Cubs haven’t really had a hot streak either. 5 games is their season high winning streak. They’re more of a Ferris wheel than a roller coaster ride. when you have a black hole and 2 meh arms outside of Boyd and Shota coupled with their struggles vs left handed pitchers spanning for 2 months it’s impossible to sustain long win streaks. The low leverage arms can’t exactly hold a deficit either and a majority of their losses have come via blowouts. When they upgrade at the deadline hopefully it minimizes any inevitable cold streak and they can sustain a winning streak past 5 games.
  13. They’re 9-2 in games started by either Shota or Boys and 6-12 in games started by the other 3-5 since June 17. They simply can’t keep the ball in park with the wind blowing out outside of Boyd and Shota on a consistent basis at an acceptable level . You have 2 reliable arms, a couple of so so options and an automatic loss every 5 games since Taillon was placed on the IL. The low leverage arms can’t hold a deficit either. way too many solo homers by the offense, I want Busch back in the 5 hole with runners on and added protection for Suzuki and PCA. It’s not panic time but that’s with the assumption they’ll upgrade at the deadline.
  14. Big inning here, the consecutive losses that ended in a blowout streak is at 3 and in jeopardy if the Royals win by at least 5 runs.
  15. It’d be nice to atleast not be embarrassed in every loss.
  16. The good news is if they hold the deficit, they’ll snap their 3 consecutive blowout losses streak.
  17. Take series from Boston and New York, lose 2/3 from the ****** royals and Twins. Things have a way of evening out I guess.
  18. So scarcity and payroll restrictions seem to be one of themes. Maybe the residual effects of Theo going heavy on position players especially in round 1 as well.
  19. Ben Brown is a just as cool. JP Wheats knuckle curve isn’t as nasty I bet
  20. There’s no question Jed doesn’t want a top of the rotation flame thrower, if you don’t value them you wouldn’t have a job. He’s drafted 2 pitchers in the first round and 1 of them is that high floor bust Jordan Wicks. The Cubs have the lowest average velocity of any team in baseball at under 92 mph. Whether you’re an average fan, above average fan, elite fan or a person who’s awful at being a fan of baseball it kind of pops out regardless of what Jed’s motivations are and the circumstances are surrounding it. It likely is a residual effect of Theo prioritizing position players as well, which is one of those circumstances and it’s taking time to develop those power arms.
  21. I veered off topic there. I was speaking in general. Taillon, Rae, Stroman, drafting Wicks, Assad, Thompson all profile similarly. Horton is the only pitcher drafted that has the ability to miss bats.. It just seems he goes for the higher floor guys. Which of course could be chalked up to scarcity and payroll restrictions but a lot of sinker ballers with low 90’s heat.
  22. Isn’t that most of the pitching staff? You have 3 gold glove caliber infielders, the best defensive center fielder in baseball pitching in Wrigley with the wind blowing in in the majority of games, it seems to be Jed’s roster building strategy centered around pitch to contact arms and relying on DRS. Ill defer to you on this but from the baked eye this seems like part of Jed’s fan.
