  1. Teams are pounding Seiya on the outside corner.
  2. Bad approach? Does PCA have a bad approach? If situational hitting is a thing, he makes consistent contact and shoots the ball the other way. That’s always been his game and adds a different element to a pull heavy lineup.
  3. Nico has arguably been the third best position player on the team and done so quietly.
  4. One thing that’s stuck out the most is the magnitude of every pitch, inning and run scored. Before the rule changes it’d be 2-0 Cubs in the first inning, I’d think to myself, that’s cool and check back in an hour 1/2 during the 5th inning. Now with the pitch clock all the action is condensed and if I look away for a minute I’ve missed 2 at bats and it’s a 3-2 count.. Before, I’d look away and the only thing I missed was a couple pickoff attempts and a mound visit. It’s definitely added to the intensity and has had a semi football effect for me. My ADHD brain appreciates it.
  5. It’s had a positive effect on viewership and attendance from everything I’ve read. Anecdotally I’ve been watching a lot more games the last few years in large because of the faster pace of games, and to some extent the cubs have been watchable since 2023 as well more so than 21-22.
  6. I’m happy they won and all but they need to shorten the games. That was almost a full 2 hours.
  7. That’s my biggest question. Did teams specifically not request Alcantara in a deal for that very reason? Rentals like Kelly or Gallen wouldn’t have the extra years of control tax, what exactly did Arizona want that’s off limits for Jed? They gave Suarez away for nothing and the cubs would’ve benefited from him a lot if he felt the asking price for starting pitchers was too high..
  8. He ordered Chinese instead after learning a 10% tip is included in all dominos delivery orders.
  9. Jed would order a Plain pizza with no toppings to offset the delivery fee, use a $5 off coupon to cover the tip for a full stomach at an acceptable price.
  10. Jed’s built a sustainable low-mid 80’s win ball club capable of striking lightening in a bottle with a fringe top 10 payroll and a no $200 million contract mandate. That’s what Tom Reinsdorf pays him for.
  11. These are Tom Reinsdorfs Chicago Cubs everybody.
  12. I can’t wait to watch our 4 man outfield with Kevin Alcantara Ethan Conrad Owen Cassie and PCA in 2028.
  13. Turns out plain old cheap ass ownership is why they slashed $40 million from the payroll and vetoed an Alex Bregman contract and it’s not much deeper than that. Sickening.
  14. He’ll go to one of the 27 other organizations who’ve handed out $200+ million contracts.
  15. horsefeathers repulsive. What a kick in the nuts.
  16. Nice standard set here by ownership and the front office here. It’s ok not to be good enough. Thanks guys.
  17. Matt Lawton is available if we need another outfielder.
  18. So in a perfect world once Taillon comes off the IL line rotation consists of Boyd-Shota-Taillon-traded pitcher-Horton/Rae or Soroka? Will he be a a number 5 in place of Brown and soon Rae when Taillon comes back of a bullpen piece primarily? Playoffs he’ll be in pen assuming they add another starter.
  19. Jed needs to overpay in this instance if that’s what it takes. The starting rotation won’t cut it even when Taillon comes back if the best they can do is nab another Soroka archetype, a money ball lottery value trade piece. They need a Mitch Keller/Kelly/Cabrera/whoever is available that can fill in as a formidable number 3 starter bare minimum.
  20. I was on team trade Tucker after yesterday. Now after today’s win I’m all in on trading for a starting pitcher.
