  1. Nice to see the cubs steal a win being out hit 7-3. This trend vs left handed pitchers is concerning. A right handed slugging corner infielder who can hit lefties is a pressing need.
  2. Since July 3rd 2024, Cubs are 96-66 with a 210 RD at 846-636 RS:RA, and of course a 101-61 pythag win record, about par for the course.
  3. I’d more than happy with Bregman. You have a platoon upgrade vs lefties and it’s no longer a guarantee the will get blanked vs any half way decent left handed pitcher. Busch and Bregman in the same lineup makes it a lot more potent and consistent with 1-9 production. Even with a Mitch Keller they still have to score runs which has been a problem bi weekly. A right handed corner infielder would finally provide some consistency and you just hope the elite defe And bullpen can keep the runs in check.
  4. Hes been throwing pitches over the heart of the plate and hanging sliders all the way back to Iowa which simply is catching up to him. In a perfect world he’s a solid number 2 starter. his stuff is sufficient but hasn’t exactly blown me away either. His command will improve with experience and his changeup to me is his best off speed pitch.
  5. Ka’Bryan Hayes is a pirates third baseman Jed is reportedly interested in. I could see the pirate’s packaging him together with Mitch Keller but even a a right handed hitter he’s struggling at the plate vs both lefties and righties. Plays great defense. I’m assuming he’d be nothing more than an upgrade to the bench and might get some platoon action in place of Turner if he can play first base.
  6. Valdez is good. Astros are over 500. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt 1000/100 under these circumstances.
  7. Lance McCullers vs Valdez. The sum total of these last 2 games is great, they’d be in business if they saved some of those runs for a game where it’s a tie game with 2 total runs.
  8. I’m so sick of these tired, predictable outcomes. Inability to hit with RISP or in a close game, getting blanked by every single starting pitcher whose half way decent and a double strike if it’s a lefty, triple strike if he pitches for a team with a winning record… It’s grounding day.
  9. Hasn’t gotten under a pitch since Wednesday it seems like.
  10. No need to be too intimidated by Valdez guys, he entered the game with a 2.88 ERA, not a 0.00. Someone should’ve told these guys that over a month ago.
  11. Cubs need to get back to their core identity as an offense and start launching some fly balls into the Crawford boxes. Non of this hitting singles or doubles with RISP nonsense.
  12. There 3 possibilities here, because in limited plate appearances vs lefties at age 39 he’ll go on a heater and put up a similar slash line after the all star break, he’s having a down year and the ageless wonder will turn back the clock on some other team next season and keep playing at a productive level until he’s 50 and bored of baseball, the third and most likely scenario is that age has caught up to him. He’s been on a downward trend since 2019 after turning 34 as you’d expect, even with his production.
  13. Do I think his 116 wRC+ vs lefties from 2024 matters in 2025? I’d say no considering that he’s hovering around the 80’s, is 40 years old and looks every year of it.
  14. Justin Turner had a 116 wRC+ last season though. I was told by a few people that it was relevant and mattered.
  15. Taillon to me as an innings eating Jason Hammel who has a knack for getting shelled, just less often.
  16. If PCA doesn’t hit a home run today it’ll be the first calendar week he hasn’t gone yard since the first week of April.
  17. Is Yadi Molina Houston’s hitting coach? They’re exceptionally good at aiming grounders between fielders.
  18. Jamo vs the Crawford boxes, Cubs vs a left handed starter, Cubs vs a dominant left handed starter. Any reason for optimism today?
  19. I don’t understand this sentiment. He has his flaws, that’s why he’s the lowest paid SS out of that 22-23 FA class despite having the highest total fWAR and bWAR of any of the other names since signing their contracts. He’s been exactly what they paid for. Can’t say the same for Correa, Boggarts or Jason Heyward who he keeps drawing comparisons to.
