  1. Cade Horton and Jordan wicks are the only 2 pitchers on the active roster they’ve invested first round picks in. Could play a part.
  2. Cubs have now been outscored 97-42 in their last 12 losses and 41-8 in their last 5 losses while bring blown out in 7 of their last 12 losses, a recent trend that hopefully is rectified by adding another starter.
  3. The Taillon injury hasn’t grabbed enough attention. Allowing 32 runs in the 26 innings with the pen relieving an injured Tailon is another annoying obstacle that’s directly contributed to 2 losses vs the cardinals and Royals. Regardless of fans emotional overreactions, which I’m guilty of in the heat of the moment, they can’t acquire another starting pitcher soon enough.
  4. What a horsefeathers game. First place was fun. Hope to meet you again.
  5. Shota throws slider which moves horizontally. One of too many things to list he does better than Brown.
  6. Both Suzuki and Tucker have been absent for 2 games in a row.
  7. Nothing moves into or away from the plate either so it’s easy to lay off pitches at the edges of the plate as well. If you don’t have pin point command you need more than a high school level sequence of pitches. He has no business facing any hitters multiple times.
  8. 26 runs in 23 innings in relief an injured Tailon. Get a pitcher already
  9. Is there an expected stat someone can provide to convince me that Ben Brown isn’t bad?
  10. And another platoon bat. Because the team has flaws, like just about every team besides maybe the Dodgers at full health. I’m not stressing over them but I’m not dismissing them either. They’ve been pulling 90 win seasons out of their asses for almost a decade.
  11. Cubs don’t have a pitching staff that scares anyone either, should teams not fear the Cubs? Cubs have dropped all the way to middle of the pack vs left handed pitchers in wRC+ despite pounding them in April. Their lineup doesn’t terrify anyone, their base running fielding and pitching staff is a concern, especially in f Woodruff gets going. You shouldn’t dismiss them because they’re average at one specific metric.
  12. Let’s hope he’s still a ghost. How’s his velocity? Can you address the rest of my post? Is wRC+ the end all be all win loss metric or not?
  13. wRC+ isn’t the end all be all win loss metric. Fielding and base running war are part of the equation. The 3 headed monster of Woodruff, Peralta and Mizroski are why they’re a problem and will be neck and neck with the Cubs for first place. Royals won the World Series in 2015 with a 100 wRC+. It’s an anecdote but there’s multiple paths to winning games.
  14. I’m critical of a lineup that doesn’t score runs. Nice gotcha.
  15. Today perfectly encapsulates what they’ve been vs left handed starting pitchers. They don’t struggle stringing together base runners but scoring runs has been scarce. The wRC+ is probably higher after today too but when they don’t hit home runs scoring runs is like pulling teeth. They won’t hit home runs either with Turner in the lineup who can’t catch up to a fastball anymore.
  16. They probably raised their wRC+ today as well with all the baserunners. What about runs/game and power numbers specifically?
  17. The expectation shouldn’t be for the pen to be Superman, it should be not stranding 10 base runners and the home run or bust habit.
  18. It shouldn’t have come down to holding them to a shutout in the first place after stranding 11 base runners. Home run or bust.
