  1. Cubs lead the league in plate appearances, at bats and have the 8th lowest strikeout rate. Unless you have data on percentage of balls hit in play resulting in errors, then it’s a simple cause and effect thing.
  2. If he’s in the lineup last night they likely win.
  3. I’m usual cynical but this team has the most upside of any team since 2016 in my opinion. It just sucks that the path through the NL is so difficult. This is all contingent on Bregmans health.
  4. Take it however you want, but this model really likes the Cubs World Series odds. Their positional war and offensive+defensive metrics with a lowish strikeout rate correlates with postseason success independently of pitching, especially since 2016. Mediocre offenses and defenses don’t win the World Series but the opposite is true with even below average pitching staffs. They’re third run differential, third in team fWAR, third in third order win percentage, 53-36 since June 11th in a +148 run differential, thanks to PCA’s superstar ascension and Bregman remembering that he’s Alex Bregman, even with Nico, Busch and Happ having down years. There’s no real regression candidates either going off the body of work from our 1-9. Bregman’s health is obviously the key here. If he doesn’t play or isn’t effective then their odds will plummet.
  5. horsefeathers Miami. Worthless organization whose sole purpose is annoying Cub fans. horsefeathers all their teams actually.
  6. Horse horsefeathers at bats. Don’t waste this great bullpen effort.
  7. They didn’t play well but well enough. They were in the red zone twice and it took 50 different preventable horsefeathers ups to not score a single point. It was a cursed Sunday.
  8. It’s like watching a final destination movie starring the 2026 Chicago Cubs.
  9. The weather had everything to do with it. The final score was 9-3. Key drops and ball security are a side effect of a wet, slippery football.
  10. This team was robbed of a World Series by lacerated fingers from falling objects, toys that may or may not effect their home field advantage with Jordan wicks pissing games away, neck injuries to your promising young starting pitcher, and the second time ever that a foul ball hit someone’s face in the on deck circle, to our second most important player, a week before the playoffs, again, if he doesn’t come back. What kind of voodoo magic horsefeathers is this?
  11. Complete horsefeathers. I feel robbed. Second year in a row now. I thought they already ended their curse.
  12. They’re not going to be playing in pouring rain where it’s impossible to grip and run routes, they won’t squander 2 scoring opportunities at the 2 yard line either. This game doesn’t really concern me long term, besides that pesky injury thing.
  13. I’m speechless. What a horsefeathers day that we’ll be reminded of when Tyson Bagent is the Bears starting quarterback against the Eagles and why Ian Happ is batting fourth on Tuesday in the playoff game.
  14. I want at least some positive news about Bregman. Not that I expect any.
  15. Field Is too sleek to both run and catch. The fumble was lethal.
  16. Hopefully his vision isn’t obstructed either. But with the luck they’ve had I’m sure it’s a season ender.
  17. Not kicking that field goal could be lethal with these conditions.
  18. The field is might be too sleek to run routes effectively.
