Sure. But not too effective. We know what happens to Cubs pitchers who are too effective like Ben Brown, Cade Horton and Justin Steele.

So did last years blue jays. 22nd at 11.2. None of those teams had 3 position players with more total war than their pitching staffs, and Swanson still only trails by .2 wins. It just had to be the one year where the Cubs lead MLB in positional war by over 10 wins to also have the second worst Cubs pitching staff in at least 50 years.

Anything can happen in October and blah blah blah. A team with a near replacement level pitching staff and a bullpen without a single go-to relief pitcher has never won a World Series. Such a waste of an MVP season and what could end up as the best positional group in Cubs history.

Bat Bregman 8th and Suzuki 9th. He’ll get those run driving opportunities while staying at leadoff. Option #2, leadoff Busch again? The platoon splits aren’t a problem for either this season.

I hope there’s no salary floor (or cap). I’d rather the Dodgers spend $1 billion to win 10 in a row than for these horsefeathers faces to ever win a single World Series.
