  1. Dayo, Jarret, and TJ have horsefeathered up the cap temporarily. I don’t think it’s win a superbowl during Caleb rookie deal or bust though. Mahomes was the last QB on a rookie deal to win which was 6 years ago.
  2. Moving DJs salary was always the most sensible thing to do. Drafting pass catchers at 9, 10 and 39 made him the odd man out. Not worth the cap hit for 682 yards. DJ was heroic though. Best of luck to him in Buffalo. He’s our latest Thomas Jones.
  3. He’s turning 37 in July. You think there’s a team who’ll offer him 2 full guaranteed years at this stage of his career?
  4. Dennis Allen has never drafted a lineman over 300 lbs either so it remains to be seen if he’ll even use a pick on a fat guy who can clog running lanes.
  5. One thing to consider is that denis Allen has never drafted a DT over 300 lbs. if he sticks to the script then McDonald won’t be a Bear. He prefers speed on the interior.
  6. You have to be a very good hitter if you’re a top 60 prospect with little defensive value and slow baserunning .
  7. I really like how Mo profiles as a hitter. Is it a pipe dream to believe he can become a 300 hitter someday?
  8. Big picture, hopefully neither will matter a lot. Ideally they’ll both be fighting for the fifth spot in the rotation or 5 and 6 if they go that route and eat innings. Cabrera, Steele are Hortons health are the keys to a deep playoff run. If it was 2025 I’d pay more attention to them.
  9. I wasn’t speaking for myself. I’m speaking on behalf of many cubs fans (few in here) who senselessly dislike Happ. Much like Scott senselessly dislikes Toby.
  10. Yes. A large number of cubs fans have an irrational dislike of him for despite consistent 30 double/20 homer seasons and solid defense. He’s paid accordingly. You wouldn’t know it talking to the average person.
  11. I feel like Happ is to Cubs fans as Toby is to Michael Scott.
  12. Will Rojas have any effect on the decision to resign Nico? Second base is obviously Shaw’s position to lose but if they find an outfield spot for him then there’s more infield flexibility. Resign Nico and Rojas will be blocked until 2029 or used as a trade piece. Of course Shaw’s bat may or may not be ideal for an outfielder.
  13. Barring health, I like the idea of Horton, Cabrera, Steele and Wiggins. There’s some risk there but ideally they’ll only need one free agent middle of the rotation guy which are dime of dozen every winter. Gallen is an option. I wish the free agent class was more talented on the position side with all the $ coming off the books.
  14. Is the plan to develop Brown into a starting pitcher/swingman? He has the stuff you want in a late inning reliever. Would that decision be contract based?
  15. I’d be blown away by that slash line vs lefties. ZIPS seems generous on this. His OPS last season vs lefties was 642 so that’s quite a jump. If he strikes a happy medium between steamer and ZIPS I’d be thrilled.
  16. What kind of platoon splits are we hoping for from Busch? 100 wRC+ gs lefties is best case scenario?
  17. Very much. 1st base is a black hole vs left handers. .
  18. Happ made a start in 2019 at first base. Thats the extend of players not named Michael Busch with any experience at first base on the ML roster besides Long who’s recovering from an elbow injury.
  19. Where does Long fit into the teams long term plans? Is there a world where he’s a DH and Mo develops into an everyday catcher?
  20. Pitch designations are too ambiguous. The intended outcome is what I associate certain pitches with, not grip. From what I’m reading it sounds like Brown has developed a 2 seamer in practice. But I don’t know if he’s inducing grounders or commanding the edges of the zone. Either way he needs a third pitch badly. It’s easy to make a swing decision on the outer edge like last season when everything moved on the same vertical plane. It’d help with Chase at least. There was no ambiguity with Greg Maddux. His sinkers moved 1-7 and 2 seamers 2-
  21. I like the thought of Brown as a high leverage arm.
  22. That’s how i feel. I really wanted them to build in Gary closer to Lake Michigan.. It’s upsetting. At least they’d still have a scenic view of wolf lake to remind us of the good old days.
  23. That’s how you should feel about him. He’s been derailed by injuries and was a below replacement level player in 486 PAs with LA last season. A potential depth option and at best a lottery ticket. I wouldn’t get excited about a guy with only 21 effective doubles last season either,
  24. His effective slug is 4000. Too many assists from other baserunners to call it an EFV4B.
  25. There you go. This guys 18:65 laugh reaction to post ratio is impressive.
