  1. This doesn't bother me. If ARam wants out of Chicago, that's fine. At least he's indicated (assumed) that he's going to opt out. It's real easy to say it was a dumb move to include the opt-out. Who knows, maybe that was what convinced ARam to sign with the Cubs 2 years ago. I'd love for ARam to stay with the Cubs, but if it isn't going to happen, so be it. I also doubt we'd be able to re-sign him if he opts out with his new team.
  2. If the Angels want Aramis, why would they need Brandon Wood? :D Not possible, but dreaming never hurt anyone, right?
  3. since when do the cubs give a rat's ass what the fans think?
  4. LOL, wow would Epstein be brought out into the streets and beaten to death if he did that. buy low, sell high. . . .dudes and dudettes.
  5. they should trade him while his value is at its peak
  6. It kinda makes you wonder if ARam has told Hendry that he has no intention of playing for the Cubs next year.
  7. A friend and I (he's a cardinal fan, but now keeps an eye on the cubs) were talking about Dusty today. Our theory, and it may have been covered here, is this: The Cubs may well have a plan --- shocking and unlikely, I know. What if they fire Baker now? This team does have talent, so what if Joe Schmuck is brought in as interim manager and the team does really well, but the sucess has little or nothing to do with the new manager. Now, the Cubs are stuck with a(nother) manager they don't want at the helm. I feel certain that if Hendry has a candidate in mind, that candidate realizes that he won't be managing the team that we see right now. It would do him no good to take over during the middle of the year --- regardless of how this particular team responds, this particular team will not be the same one that takes the field on opening day 2007. Is it too far fetched to think that Hendry has been in contact with prospective managers? Could he be planning somewhat of a rebuilding project? I don't know, but stranger things have happened.
  8. anyone remember (from espn) BREAKING NEWS: MADDUX SIGNS WITH YANKEES
  9. Contrary to popular belief, Fogerty and the Boys are far from Southern. They came from California.
  10. Just what the Cubs need, a 1B that they just sent to AAA. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Cubs have a 1B. Good. Trading Aramis for prospects is a waste unless he's a lock to opt out, and even then I'd explore other possibilities. Well, they've had a 2b for the past 3 years, but that never stopped them from signing 18 dozen other 2b. . .. .
  11. hopefully he suffers from mark prioritis and goes 18-6 with 245 K, 50 BB, 2.43 ERA in 211.1 IP next season That was a long time ago... in a galaxy and / or reality far, far away
  12. I'd do ARam for Brandon Wood straight up, IF it meant taking ARam's money and going balls out for quality pitching next season.
  13. It could have been a move his good friend Clarence Thomas taught him.
  14. Using the same time split as I had for Pierre's production...... Dates R R/G 04/03 - 05/18 151 3.78 05/19 - 07/23 245 4.30 Wow, it sure seemed as though we weren't doing much better. Were the Cubs' W/L figures better or worse in those stretches? Dates W L Pct 04/03 - 05/18 17 23 .425 05/19 - 07/23 20 37 .351 One good reason for this disparity is....... CUBS IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA 04/03 - 05/18 351.0 313 193 179 173 305 48 5923 4.44 7.82 1.23 1.38 4.59 05/19 - 07/23 499.7 515 308 280 231 419 82 8552 4.16 7.55 1.48 1.49 5.04 04/03 - 07/23 850.7 828 501 459 404 724 130 14475 4.27 7.66 1.38 1.45 4.86 So Pierre needs to pitch better :)
  15. Dear God, think of the children. . . .the children. . . THE CHILDREN!!!!
  16. Ronny didn't charge the ball. Unlike the Cubs, the met players hustle down the line. You can't wait for the ball to get to you then try to make the DP.
  17. his walk up music would be too cool. . . . . . "The Eyes of the Ranger are Upon You. . . . . "
  19. in 04, the cubs were the only team that wanted Neifi. I doubt anything has changed since then.
  20. Dustiny, not destiny.
  21. probably a terrible example, but last year, DLee hit 99 points worse in avg, 72 points worse in obp, and 152 points worse in SLG in the second half. Crap happens. . . .season is long. . . blah blah blah. No doubt Pierre was terrible to start out, but sometimes that happens when switching teams (sometimes it doesn't). Still, you gotta give the guy credit for picking it up lately. What drives me nuts is that even with Pierre's surge, we're not scoring runs much better than before.
  22. I think it's obvious that Pierre is on a cycle of sterroids and HGH. His hits have routinely been hit in the 100-120 foot range. . . . coincidence? No sir. . . .
  23. right, wrong, or indifferent, I think Pierre is a cub in '07. Sure, there might be better options, but there could also be a lot worse.
