  1. While I do think there is something to be said for Assad getting out of trouble and there may be some “skill” to it since he has done it for years, I don’t think it is something the Cubs should bank on continuing at the rate it has done. He is an ok #5 pitcher who can pitch 5 innings and not bury the team. Nothing more.
  2. True. After I answered about today I looke d at the precious 2 days. Was going to post it but you beat me to it. I would think Kittredge is down tomorrow. Not sure who else. Maybe they send Brown down since he won’t be available for several days.
  3. Today, anyway, it didn’t appear they used their top guys. They can do that with a 9 game lead.
  4. I think shocked is a little strong. I wouldn’t even be surprised, let alone shocked. Sure, they may not win 3 of 5 but they have as much a chance of doing so as the Brewers do.
  5. He is ok as a 5th starter, or a swing starter. Nothing more than that. He does seem to gr out of trouble, but I would rather he didn’t get in trouble. He isn’t very good.
  6. If the sweep is part of the Cubs winning 14 in a row they might be in first by the time it ends… I know that isn’t happening. It’s a joke.
  7. The two most maligned players on the team come through to get the Cubs a win. Way to go Ian and Dansby.
  8. I do worry about the durability of the rotation. I agree with you.
  9. Not sure why you quoted me, but honestly I don’t see anyone moved that would have helped the Cubs offense.
  10. Our country is run by someone who thinks otherwise!
  11. I don’t think squally is suggesting Cassie won’t be a good player. I think he is saying the fan base who loves to bitch about good players whose profile might be high K’s will complain about Cassie once he is a Cub. Look what they do to Swanson and Happ, who are both good players.
  12. I honestly don’t think the reds will not be close. But I can’t really disagree with what you are saying. I just don’t think they will back in. I think they will be fine. And once the playoffs start they can beat anyone in the playoffs. Obviously they can go out quickly too. But for now, my focus is on getting there. And I believe they will be fine.
  13. But they really aren’t in some free fall. They have been between 16 and 20 games over .500 for 2 months now. They haven’t had a 2-8 stretch (or worse) like the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, and even the Phillies have experience. They haven’t played well but still continue to win round 50% of the games. Sure, if they finish 16-24 or something like that, I get your point. Then they would be backing in, if they made it. But, tbh, even then, that doesn’t mean they can do well in the playoffs. I don’t want that to be what happens, nor do I think it will. But if it does and they still get in that does not automatically mean they can’t win.
  14. But if they win 90 games are they really backing into the playoffs? Many teams have played in the WS with right around that many games won in the regular season. I know they have struggled for a while, but except for the Brewers, who have played unbelievable well, the Cubs are right in the mix with everyone else in baseball. So are the Brewers the only team that deserves to be in the playoffs? Many teams get in every year that “back in”. And sometimes they end up doing very well. IMO if they get in the deserve the spot. Don’t care how they do it. And with a spot they have a chance. Will they win? Probably not. But if you asked me if I thought the Brewers would win the WS I would say probably not. In fact, pick any team and ask the question and my answer would be probably not. It is very easy for the negative people to come here and suggest the Cubs won’t win. They will most likely be right. 29 fan bases are right every year.
  15. White lefty with a strange name. I get it. I had to think about it before asking.
  16. I feel like this team needs someone to get a big hit and it will loosen up the team. You will see them start hitting again. Even when they win, they are not scoring runs. This needs to stop very soon.
  17. True. They aren’t hitting again anyway. That is the biggest point.
  18. Is it blowing out? I think it is a crosswind and in a little when hit to right. Not really a factor.
  19. Hoerner is 3rd in Baseball when hitting with risp. He doesn’t make weak contract all the time.
  20. I think you are on an island on this one Stratos. Like I said, I respect your opinions, but this one is way off base. Just not something a team would do.
  21. Let’s make it simpler. You are not intentionally trying to hurt anyone at any time in any game, period. What is being suggested is the Pirates saw PCA hurt his knee and then thought, hey wouldn’t it be a good idea to further his pain by hitting him on the knee. Why would they do that🤷 They wouldn’t.
  22. I agree. He just doesn’t seem right. I think something is bothering him and he is trying to play through it.
  23. No, it isn’t close to the most incredible coincidence ever. But it is 100% a coincidence, even if it was the exact spot. What reason do they have to hit PCA? Why do they want to hurt him? Why would they put him on base? Teams just don’t hit people to hurt them. They also don’t send messages any more by hitting players. And, frankly, what would be the reason to send PCA a message anyway?
