  1. I bet Guardians fans would love for their team to have the record the Cubs have and not have to worry about a 10 game winning streak to possibly make the playoffs.
  2. That makes it good for people who like to argue about if a player is good or not. Find the stat you like and use it for your argument😬
  3. Yes baseball reference. Ok, so Wrigley harder to hit in then Philly. Got it.
  4. Not sure where to ask this and didn’t want to start a new thread. But can someone explain to me how Busch can have a lower BA, OBP, Slugging % and OPS than Harper and yet his OPS+ is higher? His WAR is also higher, but I thought maybe def was could explain that.
  5. His critics complain he isn’t worth his contract. But whether it is because he is a great defender and average hitter, that gets him his value, he does play to what he is being paid. If you believe in WAR as an indicator of how good a player is, it shouldn’t matter if he does it hitting, base running or fielding. A ++ defender with an average bat is more valuable than a negative defender with a better than average bat. But his critics only want to talk offense.
  6. If they go with 5 bench players there is room for Santana and Ballesteros, if they don’t roster Hamilton. Bench if a back up catcher, Castro, Turner, Santana and Ballesteros. I actually think Santana is a sure thing for the roster and either Ballesteros or Hamilton will be the 5rh bench guy, if they go with only 12 pitchers(which I think they shouldn’t take more)
  7. Good catch. I missed that one. So they did go 3-7 once. My bad.
  8. Highly doubt Tucker is done. He won’t play right field, but he can DH.
  9. If things go as I hope, Cubs won’t have to face either the Phillies or the Dodgers. But most likely they will have to beat one of them.
  10. Phillies pen might suck but they come at you with 3 very solid left handed staring pitchers. That is why, for me, the Phillies are the wkrst match up for the Cubs. But like you and everyone else has said, they are not a powerhouse. No one is. Anyone can be beat.
  11. Honestly baseball keeps so many records I wonder how rare never having a 10 game span at any time of the year where a team wasn’t at least 4-6, is? Even the 2016 cubs had a stretch worse than that.
  12. This wasn’t at all negative. It is true. Cubs haven’t had any real down stretching and no long winning streaks. But the good play has been more often than the bad. Even when the Cubs weren’t hitting they found ways to win. At least they found ways not to go into long bad stretches.
  13. They have been amazingly consistent all year. Have they even had a 10 game stretch were they were 3-7? I feel, without looking, that they have not. Edit: I looked it up. There was never a 10 game span where the Cubs were not at least 4-6. I think that is pretty incredible. They stayed away from a stretch of terrible play all year.
  14. They were. And that was an amazing year. But often the best team all season doesn’t win the WS. Sure, it would be nice not to have to play a WC round. But they are in, so anything can happen.
  15. Come on now. Jed is an idiot. He can’t make good moves!!! I am pretty sure that is the belief of a lot of people here. To be honest, he had a very good year with regards to trades and signings.
  16. Never can understand the Happ angst. It happens every year. You honestly would think people haven’t even seen him play. I don’t get it.👍 He is a solid, but a little bit of a streaky player.
  17. Is it me, or does anyone else think Shaw tends to stumble a little more often than usual?
  18. I saw a guy get thrown out at second when he tried stealing and the batter walked. I think it was Ronny Cedeno or Jose Hernandez. He ran on what ended up ball 4. Catcher threw down and the runner was out because he over slid the bag and was tagged out AFTER he got to second on the walk.
  19. Since the first game of the Brewers series the Cubs have gone 17-10 and gained 4 games. They have been playing well, but 9 back is rough to overcome. The Cubs has no control over what the Brewers did when they were not playing them. And, in fact, over this crazy amount of brewers playing incredible ball, then Cubs beat them 4 of 7. Cubs will probably win 93 or so games this year. That is a great year.
  20. I think he will be on the roster for the WC round. Maybe just a DH, which is fine. But if he is a DH, I do think they may then keep Mo. He would be insurance if Tucker did tweet his calf again. Which is why Tucker has to DH. I would much rather see Mo replace him than Castro.
  21. I don’t love the Hamilton idea either. But they did sign him. So why? If not to pinch run in the playoffs, why? Maybe he doesn’t go in and play center if they PH for PCA. But I think they will put him on the roster. That is why I think they will go with 5 bench guys. Now, maybe between the time they signed Hamilton and now, Ballesteros has shown enough and Tucker’s injury concerns will change their mind. Maybe Moises takes the 5th spot as insurance for Tucker.
  22. I think they will have 12 pitchers and Hamilton makes the roster for pinch running and maybe playing centerfield if late in a game PCA gets pinch hit for against a rough lefty. As for the last spot between Santana and Ballesteros, I would love to see Ballesteros, but I think it will be Santana. In the event of weird circumstances that puts them in a position to pinch hit Turner for Busch, (I know people hate this scenario, but it happens) they would still have Santana if he is then needed to pinch hit for Turner later. Or they have him to play defense late in a game, instead of Turner.
  23. Well if they won game 1 they can go Horton for game 2 and hope they can start a lefty in a Phillies series. My hope is the Phillies are not the next opponent, provided we get past the Padres.
