  1. This was my frustration the entire Cubs series. I mean, Turang is a good fielder. He did win the GG last year. But this year Hoerner has had a better defensive year.
  2. I just read your original post again. I find it fascinating how Robert is viewed so differently by posters. We have 2 who suggest the Sox won’t exercise his option and then there is your idea of trading Shaw and Cassie for him. Which is an outrageous get for the Sox. That is way to much. However, I don’t think he will be a FA either. If the Sox could get something like Cassie and Shaw for Robert he would have been traded long ago. I do like the idea of Robert IF the Sox not exercise the option and the Cubs don’t sign Tucker. Hate it if it is to trade Shaw and Cassie for him. If they get Bichette or Bregman I would be fine with Shaw and Cassie going for a guy like Cabrera or some other controlled pitcher. Definitely not for Robert. As for adding a starter at the trade deadline, we saw how well that idea worked. You get that pitcher now.
  3. There isn’t a chance they do all of this. They aren’t singing Bichette and Schwarber. Then you suggest trading Cassie because you don’t want a guy who just .220-.230, with 20 homers and 150-175 strike outs and then say they should get Robert. He is a guy you just described. They are also never going to have Happ in the team as a platoon outfielder. And with all of this you didn’t improve their pitching.
  4. It was a force out at home. Hernandez didn’t get to the plate before the ball was relayed in. After Contreras caught the ball with his foot in home plate he then ran to third and stepped on it as well. The runner at second didn’t run to third. Force out at home and 3rd.
  5. So why wouldn’t they have traded him for anything at the deadline if they aren’t going to pick up his contract. And, they have spent more than $70M on a contract.
  6. IMO there is no chance they do that. If they were going to do that why. It trade him last deadline? Get something for him.
  7. Trading for him is different that signing him. Yiu have to give something up for him. Sox aren’t giving him away. And I am not sure they would pay him $20M and keep him around unless they get a good package for him.
  8. How old are you? I go back to my first Cubs disappointment being the ‘69 Cubs. But I don’t remember Burgess.
  9. I agree I would be all for signing Roberts if/when Tucker walks. However, he isn’t a FA. I doubt he will be a FA. As bad an organization as the White Sox are, I don’t see them mishandling the whole Robert situation so bad as to let him just walk.
  10. Diamondbacks don’t have money. They are all ready in record of saying their payroll will be lower next year.
  11. Correct. Misiorowski’s conduct was way more over the top. He for 3 deixken outs in an inning and acted like he pitched a perfect game. You are also exaggerating PCA’s actions. He is fine. I have never seen him act like Mis did. That was way over the top.
  12. You think there rotation as is would be great? I absolutely do not agree. At best, with a healthy Steele it would be fine. But no idea if Steele will be healthy. Assad filling in for him is less than ideal. This rotation has maybe 3 #3’s and a possible #2 starter if Horton progresses. And I am not sure Tailon should be counted on as a 3. When Steele comes back he can be anything between a #2 to 4th starter. Assad is a 5. Again, not bad, but not great. They need a TOR starter.
  13. Is am sure he is. Sounds exactly like something the FO would do.
  14. Not enraged about trading PCA. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I have no idea why it would be remotely considered. I also do not know that if they traded him now they would be selling high. He very well can improve.
  15. If Boyd is pitching well he will stay in the rotation. There is no reason to plan on him going to the one. If/when Steele comes back maybe they go to a 6 man rotation. Maybe someone else isn’t pitching well. Maybe someone is hurt. To play on Biyd in the pen is not reasonable.
  16. If we are all assuming Tucker walks what I would like to see is them go after Bregman. But him at 3rd and use Shaw plus Cassie or Alcantara to trade for a young controlled pitcher (Cabrera). Maybe let Shota walk too, and instead of spending 19M a year on him, go after Cease or Suarez. Will cost a little more annual, but I think they are better pitchers. One of those FA pitchers plus Cabrera and Horton give you 3 solid TOR pitchers. You can probably trade Tailon too and be fine with Boyd and Steele (once healthy) to round out the rotation. Until Steele is healthy you fill in with Rea, Assad, Brown and/or Wicks. Maybe Tailon gets you a bench bat. Mo at DH and Bregman in the line up should at least match Shaw and Tucker from this year. And your rotation is a lot better.
  17. I can definitely see revisiting Cabrera or Alcantara trades. Price may be more reasonable and the Cubs may be willing to meet it. They can do that and/or sign a higher end FA pitcher (Cease, King, Valdez, Suarez, and Gallen come to mind).
  18. He didn’t try getting one more inning out of Pomeranz. He tried getting the first inning out of him without a run. It didn’t work. But I don’t feel that was wrong. Pomeranz had been great up until that one pitch. He didn’t getting Rea past Vaughn, but that didn’t happen either. However, how do you pull him there? 2 outs and no one on base and he worked 2.2 innings up until then. Brewers just hit 3 solo homers to the Cubs 1. It happens. It is baseball. Them winning doesn’t mean Counsell for outmanaged. Honestly, has anyone told me the Cubs were going to give up 3 runs in that game I would have gladly taken that outcome and felt the Cubs could/should win the game. You ended your post with saying “certainly think he was ouanaged”. Did you mean to say that? Sounded like you were defending his moves.
  19. Terrible AB by Mo. 2-0 and he swings at ball 3. He needs to get on. WTF!!!! Take 2-0.
  20. I would guess you are r the only one with these feelings. But the truth is ther really isn’t anyone who can pitch today that I am really comfortable with. No matter who Counsell puts in, if he fails there will be people complaining about the choice he made. Honestly, there aren’t great choices. Just have to hope whoever he pitches can get 3 outs before allowing a run.
  21. House money all the way. I will be very happy if they win. But honestly, will not be as upset as I used to get in the Theo times, if they lose. Been a great season. But like everyone else said. LET’S GO!!!!! Let’s win this game!!!!!
  22. Honestly, if the Cubs lose today, I couldn’t care less about who wins. I probably will watch very little baseball if/when the Cubs are eliminated. No rooting interest in any of the teams.
  23. 🤷 I guess if he started Kittredge he would face Yelich and Turang??? Honestly, don’t know. Brewers are hard to start an opener against because their top 4 hitter split equal beteeen lefty and righty. For me, I would rather have Pomeranz for later in the game, but I am sure Craig has his reasons.
  24. That is because the Phillies are not a rival. They are not the same with the Cubs. Even when they come to Wrigley they can be obnoxious. I would guess fan bases of any home team is friendlier to a fan of the opposing team, if the team isn’t a rival. At least that has been my experience. Phillie fans were great when I went to a game there in Cubs gear.
