    Didn’t you make that comment about Wisdom, Cooper and Tauchman. Didn’t you suggest all would be gone? Maybe you did say it when Mastrobuoni was on the team. But I thought Wisdom was here already. Honestly everyone says so many things, definitely including me, I can’t keep things straight. Either way I guess Cooper makes sense with Wisdom up. Made little sense to keep them both. But I doubt Madrigal or Tauchman get sent down and replaced with better. Right now IMO this is the best 13 they could field. When Suzuki comes back I would like to see Canario down and go with All the other guys and Suzuki.

    Wonder what happened with Smyly.. I know it says hip impingement, but what exactly is that and when did it happen?

    This is very true. Do so earlier too. Look how long Hosmer stuck around. And he was way worse than Cooper. Mancini stayed even longer and he was worse than Cooper. A quick move tells me they actually believe this team can be good and are not going to wait around like they did last year. Good to see.

    Guess I took ascending to the majors successfully to mean come up and be a good player. With all equally due respect, please realize when someone is only kidding. Maybe you should have seen the smiley face and realized I was just joking.

    That is just to put someone on the 40 man. That isn’t the issue here. I think 2 guys have to go on the IL. Hope He sticks is one of them and really hope Lieter isn’t one.

    That works for me. They might also feel better about Morel at 3rd so they want a left handed bat for DH against right handed pitching. Tauchman is in the line up so now Mervis can DH.

    I know that. But when they send him back do they have to wait 15 days for him to come back up? Does him coming up as player 27 count as being called up? NM, answered while I was asking the question. Thanks

    Kind of how I feel. Once Wisdom came back Cooper didn’t make sense. I thought he was ok, but I am fine with them trying Mervis again. Just hope he gets semi regular AB as a DH when a righty pitches.

    Ok, so if Little is coming too does that mean 2 injuries? Or did little coming up as the 27th man not count as an actual call up?

    If I had to guess I would say Canario. Maybe Morel has shown enough for them to put him at 3rd more regular so now they want either the DH to be Mervis against a right handed pitcher or Cooper or Wisdom against a left handed pitcher. Maybe even so much as Cooper and Wisdom play and Busch sits against SOME lefties. Not a straight platoon for Busch. Just maybe a day every so often against a lefty. As for the pen arm I would guess Brewer gets sent back down.

    How many teams have a guy on their bench, or even in the minors, that can step in for a month, and be very good? How many are better than Tauchman, Cooper and even Wisdom? As for Gomes, you are judging him on a slow start. These guys are bench guys for a reason. Same reason guys on other teams are bench guys. There really isn’t much depth around the league that can fill in for a month at a time.

    I am not sure it is that easy to just IL a guy. Didn’t MLB come down on a team for doing that? I think they are watching that a little closer than in the last. So for me, if he sucks again they may need to think about releasing him. Hate to think about that, because I really like Kyle and he was a big part of the championship team. But like thawv said, this is 2024. Have to do what is needed to win now.

    That said, still the most likely outcome for one team is to split the doubleheader. Even using your numbers, 49% of the time they split. That leaves 51% to either win both or lose both. So maybe a good team wins 35% of that remaining percentage? And then worse team wins 16% of the time. So basically the better team wins a double header 35% of the time as opposed to splitting 49% of the time.

    I don’t disagree with any of this. All I was trying to say is if Counsell did want to pinch hit it didn’t have to be a lefty. Gomes was available.

    Why did it have to be Bellinger pinch hitting anyway. If you wanted a right handed bat who was very successful in big moments last year, why couldn’t Gomes pinch hit? At least he would be just trying to put the ball in play.

    I like the idea of trying to get through one of the games today with only 2 pitchers. Between the starter and the one arm(probably Brown) you get 9 innings. Then you have the other game to use whatever you need.

    Except that it is baseball and even bad teams win 40% of the time. And if is very difficult to win a double header. And Luzardo is pitching today(I expect him to start pitching better). Sunday the Cubs have Hendricks pitching. Happ may be out now. I would guess the percentage of 4 game sweeps is very low in baseball. Sure, they “should” win against the Marlins, but it shouldn’t be expected that they win every game. Hell, the white Sox beat the Braves earlier this year. All I am saying is to expect a sweep and be disappointed if they don’t get one is setting yourself up to be disappointed.

    Bet the homer he gave up would have only been a homer at Wrigley. Hit is right over the 368 sign. Shortest power alleys in baseball.

    I would guess he is around 80 pitches for his limit. Maybe low 80’s. So possible he does 6.

    All 3 won’t last? Who do you expect the bench to be? And what time frame is near future? Your comment is very vague.
