  1. Horton came one pitch from an immaculate inning. 3rd batter fouled off the 0-2 pitch. Popped up on the next pitch. 10 pitch(all strikes) inning.
  2. Well they only play 3 against the Braves, so they can’t go 1-3.
  3. That is all I am saying. Of course he isn’t going to pitch to a 1.49 ERA all year. But even double puts him just under 3.00. (For rounding sake, let’s call it 3.00). That’s still a very fine pitcher who I wouldn’t mind as the #2 or #3 guy in a playoff series.
  4. One of the biggest talking points of it not being sustainable is the batting average with men in scoring position. And it is extremely low. However the man has a WHIP of 1.034, so it is not like many are getting on base anyway. Sure he will regress some. And initially I still considered him to be a very solid BOR starter even with regression. However, if he keeps up the WHIP number he will be a very solid #2 or, at worst, #3 starter even if the BA goes up with men on or in scoring position.
  5. Is it wrong to start to get a little excited about Davis again? I mean he is hitting the ball hard at AAA. He is still only 24. If an outfielder went down now, would he come up over Canario? I can’t help but pull for him. He has had so much bad luck. It would be awesome if he actually made it all the way back.
  6. I agree. But I was responding to the post that suggested Bellinger moving to first. First of all, if he opts back in for next year that means he doesn’t think he can get a better deal than the Cubs deal of 2/$50M. Which means he might not have been very good this year. Next, if he is moved to first that means Busch failed. It also means he wasn’t very good offensively in 24’ and now he is the Cubs $30M first baseman. All of which is not an ideal situation. Which is why I said I hope he is not moved to first. But you are correct, he could move to right or left and the Cubs could made a trade to open up that spot. That wouldn’t be awful.
  7. True. And not like the Braves started bad pitchers. I am pretty sure they felt pretty good with Lopez, Sale and Morton going.
  8. And there would be a good chance in 4 years people would be complaining about how much the ins gave up for a pen arm. No way would I give up all 3 of those guys.
  9. I hope not. Because that means they are paying a first baseman $30M for 1 year. It also means Busch failed. They may look to move Happ. To me that is a better solution then having to put Bellinger at 1st.
  10. Except in 2 of those 4 they have very good pitchers going. They play the Brewers for 2 and neither pitcher starts. Against the Cubs in the 7 they play them now, 4 are started by their top young pitchers.
  11. How does PCA get on to lead off an inning and not move? Plus, how does he not get to second on the ball Suzuki hit. He may be fast, but he has trrrible baseball instincts.
  12. Doesn’t look good for tonight’s game. Yikes, what a line up!!!!
  13. Wouldn’t it be easier to put Morel at 2nd and Wisdom at 3rd? That said. I am fine with Mastrobuoni at second and Wisdom on the bench tonight.
  14. That is definitely his weight when they signed him. I think he is listed much higher than that now. I think maybe even 200 lbs.
  15. I didn’t get to see the end of the game. Why was Morel taken out? Is he hurt now too?
  16. I doubt it as well. Just wondering if there is something in the rules. Sucks though. The lefty would have to face Suzuki. My guess is if the game starts up again they will have a right handed pitcher on the mound.
  17. Does the 3 batter rule for a pitcher still count? Didn’t the pitcher in right now only face 2 guys? Does he have to face Suzuki? Or does the delay negate the rule?
  18. It’s going to be Mastrobouni or Madrigal the entire time Swanson is out. Might as well get used to it. Supposedly Mastrobouni handles high fastballs. Can’t prove it by me or his results this year, but that is what the reasoning for him being in the line up today.
  19. Whatever works. So if they win every Shota start, probably 30 games, and play 500 the rest of the games they end up 96-66. I would take that.
  20. He can’t come back now unless it is to replace an injured pitcher.
  21. Guys miss mistakes all the time. How often do we see a guy foul one back and JD says the batter wishes he gets that pitch again. May have been a terrible pitch but Gomes still has to hit it squarely.
  22. I don’t know if he could have caught it with a better route. But I was at the game. Wind blowing across from right to left was holding everything up in right. The whole game I was telling my wife that Tauchman was playing way too deep. Had he been where he should have been from the start he catches that ball easily. But you do have to give credit to SD manager. Double steal worked. Making the infield come in. Had he not did that the ball that gets through is a routine double play. They have a guy on 3rd with 2 outs. Then after that he did two perfect hit and runs. Again, each are easy outs if guys are not in motion. He just hit in everything he did that inning.
  23. That sounds about right. I guess Canario and PCA go down. I just met PCA this morning. I am staying at the Zachary Hotel, next to Wrigley. I was eating breakfast and he came down to the restaurant to meet his mom and sat right next to us. I just said hi and told him to keep it going. He said that you and he would try.
  24. Him or brewer. Not a big deal. When Hendricks gets activated I would think Brewer would be next to go.
