  1. I have always said a good day for a Sox fan was a day the Cubs lose. I have literally been at a bar where thr Cubs game and Sox game were in the tv’s and Sox fans were watching the Cubs game hoping they lost rather than watching the Sox game hoping they won. And this was back around 04’ Sox were two back of the twins and had 3 against the Cubs and then 3 against the twins. I asked the Sox fan if they could go 4-2 in those games which 2 games would you want to lose. He said the Twins games because he would want to sweep the Cubs. And I really think that is a lot of that fanbase POV.
  2. It is probably because of their fan base. That is the reason these games mean as much to me as they do, and why I worry so much about them. Dbag Sox fan annoy the hell out of me.
  3. I don’t think so. Kelly is still a solid back up. Maybe he drops back in the line up and plays close to half the games. I think the original plan was 90+for Amaya and 70+ for Kelly. They can stick to that plan now.
  4. Hey, you have to beat the bad teams. Sweeps are not easy against any team. AND the cardinals lost….
  5. Before Merryweather comes in and messes the pen up, I want to point out the Cubs pen pitched 10.2 innings in this series without allowing a run. Not sure I will be able to say no runs allowed after Merryweather pitches🤷, so saying it now.
  6. 2 hits from a third baseman. Wow! Brujan might have saved himself.a roster spot. Shaw up, Lopez DFA is my prediction.
  7. Got it. I was only playing around anyway. Should have ended with a 😬
  8. Sure is. He hasn’t started since yesterday.
  9. Is it though? They have been a complete failure this year. They are also in a division where they have to pass too many teams. I don’t think they have to wait until the trade deadline to see this is not going to be their year. I would say it “might” be a LITTLE early, but not much too early.
  10. Not surprising, considering your name, but Wisdom is in Korea, not Japan😅
  11. I would have put Turner in. But it is just one of many decisions a manager has to make. 🤷
  12. Pen has covered 7 innings without allowing a run. I think someone posted something about how nice it would be to feel comfortable with a 3 run lead. TBF, I don’t think many fan bases are ever comfortable with their pens, no matter how good they are. I am sure a few are, but not many. Cubs pen is bad, but they have been showing signs of not totally sucking. Of course, then they give up a big inning and it starts all over again.
  13. Yes, but bad teams do win 1/3 of the time. Happy for the first two, but really could uses a sweep.
  14. I don’t think the Cubs want PCA leading off, but I do like the above line up.
  15. if the throw wasn’t so terrible he wouldn’t have had to lunge to catch the ball and try to tag the runner. He did well to even get a glove on the errant throw. Therefore error in the throw.
  16. I think if Tucker sticks around the Cubs will use both Alcantara and Cassie in a trade offer to get better pitching. Because of that I agree on Long being a keep. I still think they get more for Cassie and Alcantara then they do for Long, so if Tucker stays they might as well get rid of both those outfielders to improve pitching. If they need some salary relief(which is ridiculous to me, but probably a Ricketts reality) they can always deal either Happ or Suzuki and bring Ballestaros up to DH.
  17. Strumpf is having an interesting year. He is older so not a prospect, but it looks like this year he is swinging at more pitches and not taking the walks he always took in the past. I am just going by the numbers I see. But in the past he had hit around .230 but had an OBP around .360. He also struck out a lot. Which tells me he was very selective in what he swung at therefore he drew a lot of walks but also struck out a lot because he passed on too many pitches. This year he is hitting .271 but with an OBP of only .350(which isn’t bad, just not how he used to perform) with a slugging over .600. As j said, he isn’t a prospect and will probably always be a minor league ballplayer. I just find what appears to be a chance in his philosophy on hitting, interesting.
  18. After 2 starts I would say Horton is doing pretty well. I know he has given up 6 runs in 9 innings, but he hasn’t walked anyone. Today he pitched in a game with the wind blowing out pretty hard, and did fine. Best part of this is in two games the Cubs games the Cubs had to fill in for Imanaga they won both of them. I am actually encouraged by Horton’s two starts.
  19. And besides not taking the sure out at 2nd, he didn’t even throw it hard to 3rd. He lobbed it in. What a terrible play.
  20. I think they need to bring Shaw back and just let him play. That collection of guys they have there all suck.
