  1. Oh, I know you weren’t. And I agree until we know it is just some inflammation and he is ok, of course we should have some concern. The Cubs have had a history of not being totally honest regarding injuries.
  2. Even if it is something to worry about, you don’t automatically put him on the 60 day IL, as Stratos suggested. Worrying it “could be” something serious isn’t ridiculous. Overreacting and suggesting he should go in the 60 day Il is, at this time.
  3. Assuming you are not a doctor, that is the only thing in your post that is correct. Why not wait and see what is up with his inflammation? His velocity down is not unusual to start a season and definitely not unusual in ridiculously cold conditions. Why does everything have to be doom and gloom? You don’t put him on a 60 day IL without even finding out what the problem is. He sounded like it was very precautionary by the Cubs and appeared a little annoyed they put him on the Il, at all. A 60 day IL at this time makes zero sense. If they do an MRI and find something there will be time to change his IL status. Oh, actually something else I agree with you on is how ridiculous playing a night game in Wrigley in early April is. Yes, it is very stupid.
  4. True. But I think they like getting Imanaga an extra day from time to time, so I would expect they still go with a 5 man staff. Maybe if the IL stint is only 20 days or so, Rea gets 3 starts. Or maybe Horton or Wicks comes up to take the start. I know they brought up Roberts now, but the day they need a starter they can bring one up.
  5. Why weren’t the Cubs running when Kelly was up? I don’t understand this team.
  6. Actually I agree with this. It is closer to a 50/50 decision then some think. Basically that is why I would like to see them work something minor out with Detroit to keep Workman. Whether it is Brujan now or someone else later, I don’t expect Workman to be in the major league roster all year. I am fine with him in the system but don’t feel he would have the job just because they can’t move him around. Figure it out now, go with Brujan on the roster and get Workman playing time in AAA.
  7. I don’t think it takes another month. Why wouldn’t the Cubs just release Brujan if they liked Worlman more than him? Even if they wanted to see what Workman could do so they gave him 3 weeks while putting Brujan on the IL, Workman has been bad. I think when Brujan is ready the Cubs will have to decide if they can work out some minor arrangement with the Tigers and keep Workman, or send him back. Fact is, it is very hard for a team competing to stash a rule 5 guy all season. If it isn’t now it will be another time. So if they think right now Brujan helps them more I would think when he is ready they will make the move. And if they don’t think he helps them more now, they should have just let Brujan go. Honestly, I am ok with whatever they do. I think Workman got was overhyped this spring. Sure, he might be a decent utility guy to have in the system as a guy who is up and down. But he isn’t anything special. And as a rule 5 guy they can’t move him up and down. My best case scenerio is a deal with the Tigers. Maybe only a cash deal or a ptbnl deal where the Cubs can keep workman. Send him down and put Brujan on the team as the 26th man.
  8. If the Cubs are in contention at the deadline they are not trading Tucker. And I would guess they will be contending.
  9. I don’t think it needs to be $500M. He is older than Vlad, so he shouldn’t get the years Vlad got. Judge got $40M a year for 9 years. I can see something like that annual but maybe 12 years. And, honestly, that is a lot. Vlad averaged $36M a year. Tucker should get that. In the end if he goes to free agency it might end up $500M, but I don’t think the Cubs are dead in the water offering 10-12 years with an annual between $36M and $40M What I really like about what Jed did here is he put it now all on Ricketts. By trading for Tucker he gave Tom an elite talent. Now if Tom doesn’t sign him we all know who is to blame for the Cubs failures. It isn’t Jed, it is Ricketts. We won’t have to question if Jed doesn’t have the stomach for long term deals or if he is just following Ricketts orders. It will be clear it is Ricketts. I love that Hoyer shifted the blame to ownership by making this deal.
  10. I think when Brujan is ready the Cubs will offer spring training hero, Workman, back to the Tigers and Brujan will take his spot.
  11. I like Kelly with Brown. Brown is a little wild so having a better pitch framer when he pitches works for me.
  12. Because baseball is stupid, you might be right. 🤷
  13. After the Dodgers don’t they go to SD then come home to Arizona, Dodgers and Phillies? Why stop the “brutal stretch” after @ Dodgers? It keeps going.
  14. Pecota seems to think they are. The updated wins has them at 93 with no one else in the division at .500. Cubs total is second best in BASEBALL to the Dodgers. Maybe they are good🤷. Maybe Jed made some good signings (Boyd and Kelly) and found a few guys on a dumpster dive as well.
  15. I think you got it. Has to be Bowa
  16. Pretty sure, actually, I am positive that was sarcasm by squally. Kind of sad you agreed with it.
  17. Shaw is fine. You don’t send a guy down after 9 games when you expect him to be the everyday 3rd baseman. It isn’t like he is 0-30. He is fine, especially since coming back to the states. I think Sandberg was 1-31 to start his rookie year, AND he wasn’t as highly rated a rookie. And the Cubs stayed with him. Shaw is taking his walks, hitting ok and running the bases well. Yes, his defense has to be better. But no reason to be sent back to AAA. If the Cubs thought he was ready to handle major league pitching this spring, nothing that has happened so far should have them changing their mind after 9 game.
  18. So exactly how does a team look flat? I mean exactly what happened for you to come to a conclusion either team looks flat? I hear this comment from time to time, not just from you, and never really understand what people are watching. Typically it is when a team loses. And if it happens to be a day game after a night game, it is a convenient statement to suggest the losing team looks flat. But since the Cubs won big again yesterday can you please give examples of flat play by them.
  19. So they are due to lose. 4-2 homestand would be great.
  20. One horrendous inning away from a 6-1 road trip. Still happy with 5-2. Now they need to continue to hit at Wrigley.
  21. Who are we getting from the Angels🤷😅? JK. I know what you are saying, and agree with you.
  22. I realize this. That is why I answered as i did. Agree is is a very silly take on a slow start. Just another hot take.
  23. Suzuki off to a slow start brings you to this conclusion? He did fine at DH last year. I don’t know, maybe give him 70 AB before coming to the conclusion his head is messed up because he is being asked to DH, and because of that he is going to be traded.
