  1. Ok, glad to hear you think he is ready now. He is definitely the most exciting option with the highest potential.
  2. I don’t think they will wait very long with Shaw to be back.
  3. You think so? Kid of surprises me that you think that. I always felt you were on the slow roll of Horton. They have Flexen and Wicks they can bring up. If they want to be sure with Horton and his health I would have thought they may wait. He deserves to be up, but I thought they might give him a little more time. Again, not disagreeing he should be the guy. Just didn’t think you would go that way.
  4. Shaw is 3 for 4 tonight, as well. I don’t think he will have to be hit long before coming back.
  5. He is getting close. Doing everything he needs to do to be promoted. I am sure he will get a few more starts before they make the move. Maybe late May.
  6. Heany is a reverse splits guy. A much simplier reason not to start Turner.
  7. Well he is 40. So if you mean he isn’t likely to last beyond this year I can why you say that. But if you are suggesting he was never going to make it through this season, I don’t agree. Yes, someone will eventually replace him. Just not sure a slow start means he is cooked and he will be replaced anytime soon.
  8. Yeah, i ageee. I don’t think this means the Cubs are done with Turner either. Turner hit about .100 last May and wasn’t cooked. I doubt the Cubs give up on him this soon. Could be a simple reason like Counsil likes Busch in this match up. I think the long range plan for Busch is an everyday player with OCCASIONAL days off against a lefty. Maybe this is a match up Counsil feels comfortable with. It can also be that Turner is a little banged up or sick. We don’t know🤷 I do like the line up being shaken up a bit. I doubt this is the long term line up, but for now I approve of him moving Swanson down.
  9. Honestly, he has to. If not now, when? If not Tucker, who? He needs to get this done. And if/when he does that frees up another tradable prospect for pitching help. While he is at it he needs to offer PCA 8 years and $120M or something like that. Time to change the narrative on the Cubs owners being cheap. Next year if they want some salary relief they can move either Sazuki or Happ and bring up Ballestaros to DH. Sooner the better this wa they know they can trade prospects who won’t ba e a spot on the team anyway with Fhcker and PCA locked down.
  10. I think he gets half that much. Don’t want him at $6M to $8M.
  11. Exactly. Also, they left out how he thanked the Cubs for giving him the opportunity to be in the majors. His next sentence said now that I am on the white Sox I want to beat the Cubs. SO WHAT? His comment was nothing unusual.
  12. It is crazy to talk about now, but since we are Mitch Keller would also be an option. He is signed theu 29’ but I can see the pirates trading him. I think they are always open for business if it means lowering their teams payroll.
  13. Cubs are a bat short, but I am willing to wait in that until Shaw comes back. And I think he will come back. Besides, who can they get now anyway? Arenado, McMahon? At what cost? I think the bigger need is a front of the rotation starter. But, again, at what cost? And who? Alcantara? Lopez? If they talk about either I have to think guys like Cassie and Alcantara are brought up. Which would be easier to deal if they extended Tucker. Then they would have 2 outfield spots covered for multiple years. Makes Alcantara (OF) and Cassie more expendable. Cubs need to work things out with Tucker so they know what they can trade to add wheee they need help. If not now, when? If not Tucker, who? Time for the FO/ownership to change the narrative on them. Time to extend Tucker and PCA and act like the large market team they are. Then trade for a solid starting pitcher. If they do sign the two outfielders they know exactly what they can trade. Even if 3rd remains a weakness the team should still be good enough to win and win in thenlkahiffs, if they add a TOR arm.
  14. As time went on, maybe he should have tried out again. He should have never been let go in the first place. When he was first let go it was undeserved. You can spin it however you want, he should have been playing football for several more years and would have had the NFL and the president not made a big deal about it. Trump even said “get that son of a bitch off the field”. He is who made it an issue and the owners all filed in behind him. It ok to have men who committed domestic violence against a woman or worse, but don’t kneel for the anthem. That will get you banned. What a bunch of BS.
  15. So the NFL and the jackass leader of our country created the “situation” and Kapernick had to pay the price by being blackballed? Got it. Makes sense. Even if you didn’t think he was that good a QB, there is no way there were 60 better quarterbacks in football when he was being blackballed.
  16. Might not have gotten him because he backed up on the ball. He had to grab the short hop to get him, or even just step in third if he came in in the ball. WTF!!!!
  17. What he did should not have been a distraction. He should have never been asked to stop what he was doing. The NFL and the idiot in charge of our country at the time make it a distraction then tried making him the bad guy. He should have had a career after he knelt.
  18. Taillon is not very good against the Phillies. Happ 0-15 against Nola. Not so sure I like their chances. Pretty much a 50/50 game as far as I can tell.
  19. This would be my guess as well. But when Miller and Brasier come back, who goes down? Or do they have to release guys?
  20. I feel what Kiper thinks used to mean more than it does now. But glad he had them 7th. Maybe if you factor in they also got a 4th rd pick for next year the draft is a little better. But with Kiper at 7 and USA Today at 21 that puts the average at 14. Which is basically an average draft, or a C. Regardless of the rating, I don’t think it fell how they had hoped. I think Burden was a pick they couldn’t pass on, but not a need. I don’t think they expected that. I like the first 2 picks and then the CB they picked. I think he was great value there. Other than that, aside from their 4th rd pick, which is bad, the other picks were meh to me. Has they gotten a RB somewhere between the 2nd and 4th round and maybe a edge rusher there too, I would have felt better. I think they wasted a pick in rd 4. 🤷
  21. Kaepernick was good enough to be on a roster. What he did shouldn’t have been a distraction. I think he was a good QB of starting caliber, but even if you don’t agree with that, he was definitely worthy or having a job as a solid back up. He got blackballed because he dared to stand up for his belief. Tebow sucked, period. He didn’t deserve a roster spot.
  22. While a C- may have been an overreaction, I still don’t like some of the picks they made. I think the overall grade goes up some because of Loveland and Burden. Those were very good choices. The other guys in rd 2 are ok, but I think they could have probably gotten an OT similar to Trapilo in the 3rd round. (Maybe even him at 72) And I would have rather just taken the edge rusher at 41 instead of Turner when they got him. Really do not like the 4th rd pick at all. I do like the CB they got late. I agree with gflore that guys got picked right before them and that threw the draft off a little. Had Henderson been there at 41 I think they take him. Had Skattebo been there at 109 I think they take him. Things did not fall great for them. I also think Caleb Johnson was an option, but the Bears pick never lined up right to pick him. As I said, C- might be a bit low, but I don’t think it was much better than average. For those people suggesting all the grade outlets have the Bears, remember most outlets don’t score much worse than B-. USA Today ranked the bears at B- and 21st best draft. In my world 21st out of 32 is not B-.
  23. That might have happened in rd 4 too, with Skattebo. He went a few picks before their pick and they moved back again. Don’t like this draft, at all. C-
  24. I hate this draft aside from the receiver in rd 2. WTF are they doing?
