  1. Based on what, exactly? I have a pretty good idea what it is. As a poster pointed out, dog whistling.
  2. Ballesteros had a bad day. He stuck out against deGrom a few times. He isn’t the first person who can say that and won’t be the last. And he is struggling now, for sure. But why do you have to go to a persons make up when you have no fricken idea of that person? Why does slumping equate to Mo being cocky? Can’t you just say he has to adjust his swing a little? Maybe shorten it a bit? Maybe he is just slumping? Doesn’t mean he is cocky.
  3. Except the Cardinals and the pirates. Other than that the whole division won.
  4. I agree if Alcantara does that he will be considered as a corner outfielder. Ext year, if not traded. The hard part is him doing what you expect out of him.
  5. How did Wicks look. I see he went 4 scoreless but he walked 4. To me, that is the next possible solution to the staff. It is important for him to be decent.
  6. At the beginning of last year, when you were campaigning for Long, he didn’t have 1300 PA. And hadn’t played much in Iowa. That is why you were wrong then. Your wrong now because there isn’t a spot for him. Let him play in Iowa. Hope either someone really likes him so you can deal him, or he is ready to challenge for an outfield spot next year. Not all guys in the minors turn into stars. You tend to pencil minor leaguers into starting spots in the Cubs as if it is no big deal. You are doing it now with Alcantara. Suggesting he is a better option than Shaw for the Cubs next year while he is striking out over 35% of the time in Iowa. Yet you have him as the corner outfielder over Shaw who has put up solid numbers in the majors since the last half of last year. It is more likely both Long and Alcantara fail to become regulars than it is that either of rh does turn into a productive everyday player.
  7. I would definitely take Robbie Ray for the right price. If Webb come back healthy he is also someone I would be interested in at a higher price. Yes, Shaw would work for me here, for Webb. I don’t understand why Ray wouldn’t work. He would be as effective as any Cubs starter. Sure, an ace would be better. And someone like Peralta should be a target. But I wouldn’t be disappointed in Ray or even Sonny Gray.
  8. Draft picks can be traded? I didn’t think baseball did that.
  9. He did. But he is now starting. So he probably shouldn’t even be on the list of pen arms.
  10. TBF it isn’t unusual for a set back in the injury Steele had. And Harvey having multiple injuries is not unexpected. He was always going to be a risky option.
  11. Yes you have. And you were wrong then and wrong now. I agree he should be given a chance next season, if he isn’t traded. But last year was too early for him, and now he is better off in Iowa, since there isn’t a place for him on the ML roster.
  12. I agree they don’t need two. Besides that, they aren’t getting two. If you set your sites on two you are just doing so in order to be disappointed. Honestly, we will be lucky if they get one, especially if that one is Peralta. I’m think more in the area of Gray and Ray, is what they will be looking for. And, TBH, if somehow they get healthy by then, and Brown shows he is a starter, they may not even need one. Might just need a few solid pen arms. That is a huge question mark, however. And I wouldn’t count on health for everyone.
  13. My thoughts, exactly.
  14. You are going to see Shaw’s name thrown out there with bad trade ideas. Some people can’t differentiate the player on the field with the player and his personal beliefs. I wouldn’t mind seeing Shaw dealt, but I don’t want that to happen because of his personal beliefs. Has to be for quality of equal value. I think 6 years of Shaw for 2 months of Peralta is not value for the Cubs.
  15. 👍 No big deal. You did have me go back and rewatch the AB, though. Which was cool anyway!
  16. I am literally watching the AB PCA had in the 10th inning of game 3 in the Reds series. Which I believe is what the article referenced. It was a 3-2 pitch right after PCA swung at what would have been ball 4. Just like I said it was. Now, maybe the article is talking about a different time PCA homered to tie a game in rhe 9th that the Cubs then won in the 10th, but is sure sounds like he is talking about Wednesday’s game.🤷
  17. Rocker struggles in the 1st inning. 9 runs allowed in 6 first innings. Get on him early.
  18. Was it an 0-0 count? I thought it was 3-2. I thought he swung at ball 4 on the 3-1 pitch. And then instead of walking he homered. Maybe I am wrong. 🤷
  19. Little is completely different than Wicks, though. He was always a high ceiling guy. So always more of a risk. Wicks was supposed to be a guy counted on to be a MOR starter. Not a exciting pick “if he gets it all together”. A safe pick. That is why his struggles are more aggravating to me.
  20. It would help immensely if Wicks could get it together and be that MOR starter that was expected of him. Wasn’t he the safe, but boring pick? Cubs need that guy.
  21. I’m not sure it will be Roberts and Velesquez, but otherwise I agree with this post. I don’t think the pen is any worse off now then he has been the entire time of all the injuries. I actually like the idea of Ben starting over Assad. I think there’s more upside with him. While he is amping up his pitch count the pen will have to fill a few more innings. But after maybe 2 starts he should be able to go 6. Cubs are betting the up side of Brown in the rotation will out weigh the downside of a few more pen innings.
  22. Are you assuming more injuries or guys not making it back? Or are you saying they need two arms, not starting pitchers? I agree they will need to upgrade with some arms, but if guys are healthy I don’t feel they need 2 starters. Hell, if everyone is healthy they don’t even need one. But I doubt all will be healthy so someone who is an upper MOR starter would be great.
  23. I think they can get 6 out of those two. I would guess Brown goes up too maybe 60 pitches. No idea why he can’t. Ramping up in spring, pitchers go from 30-40 to 60 the next start. Brown has already gone over 30, and maybe even 40. He should get 3 innings, and if he is throwing strikes maybe he gets 4. Assad should also be able to throw 60 pitches.
  24. I’m fine with your scenerio. But then spend the big money on Peralta. If they do that, I would be fine with them trading for him. But I doubt the Mets deal him anyway.
