  1. Well, we all knew this day was coming eventually. But Cam Smith looks like he's becoming one of the best outfielders in the game and a cornerstone. I don't blame Jed for that trade. He wouldn't be the current GM if the Cubs missed the playoffs last year. I just wish they pulled that trade off without including Smith. The Cubs are a middle of the order bat away from being truly elite.
  2. This dweeb comes in with a 3 run lead and just ruins the game immediately... 🙄
  3. Ben Brown should never pitch unless the Cubs are up or down 5 runs. Shota pitched great.
  4. 5 of the 6 home runs this season have been by Happ and Bregman so far. It would be nice to see someone else step up today, like PCA and Busch.
  5. Yup it's over. Although I thought that Amaya was finished after his injury last year and he nearly came back in time for the playoffs lol
  6. Horton is an incredible pitcher when healthy. The 2nd half of his rookie season showed that. Hopefully, it's not serious
  7. that’s a bad send with the top of the lineup coming up. worked out though
  8. nice start. It's wild that the Angels have been trying to build a rotation for like 15 years and they seem no closer to being good lol
  9. I understand the reasoning why they made the move - they were desperate to get a cost controlled, talented guy that has upside, which allowed them to use that money in free agency. I guess I'm just not as optimistic about that particular move as I am some of the other moves they've made. It's too early to tell for sure.
  10. Cabrera has only 1 season where he's pitched over 100 IP, he will never be a workhorse guy that can log 180 IP or 200 IP in a season. Essentially, they are gambling on him being elite elite for the 5 innings that he will pitch every 5 days. He's got great stuff but the results haven't been there consistently, and he's a constant durability concern. He's prime Sonny Gray on his best day and more like Javier Assad on his worst. Heck of a price tag for a 27 year old who hasn't figured it out yet.
  11. I want a do-over on that one. With Happ and Suzuki soon to be FAs, Caissie would look great in LF.
  12. I really wanted Sandy Alcantara instead of Cabrera. IMO, he's one of the best pitchers in the game when healthy and the Cubs could have had him at a discount. And he threw 7 scoreless innings in his debut. Cabrera better deliver because that was a high risk move.
  13. I know people here don't love him but I'd take Zac Gallen over Shota in a heart beat for the same contract (1 year, 22 mill). I'm surprised the Cubs brought him back but hopefully it turns out to be a good decision
