  1. Have to give the Cubs credit for fighting back to almost .500
  2. They both stink and are overpaid. One stinks and is overpaid in one style, and the other stinks and is overpaid in another style. Happy now, pumpkin?
  3. I mean what's really different about them stylistically. Helen Keller will get to 40 home runs and a .900 OPS before any of them do
  4. The Cubs just have a bunch of mediocre hitters that give the illusion that they are really good players because they can put the ball in play. Hoerner, Tauchman, and Happ all fit the bill, sadly Bellinger is becoming that type of guy too. That's why you don't trade a guy like Morel for another one of those 'types' in Parades. You need players with different skillsets.
  5. I met Joe Girardi today, really cool dude.
  6. Can't believe the Cubs hung onto this one. Thought it was going to be a tossup after the Reds cut it to a 9 run game, but the bullpen showed up today
  7. Morel's career will take off, now that he's not stuck on a bad organization
  8. I'm thrilled the Cubs got Paredes, but it's kind of a weak move to give up on Morel. If they found a way to keep Morel while also getting Parades (which shouldn't have been that hard given their depth of prospect capital) then you really have something with a core of Paredes/Morel/Busch/Suzuki/Hoerner with guys like Caissie and Shaw around the corner. Morel has struggled this year but he's still a high ceiling player who's underlying stats indicate a 120+ wrc hitter. There's no shame in having a great DH
  9. This has been a horrible day in a lot of ways.. hope to scrub it from my memory
  10. I'd swap him out in a heart-beat for any other Top 50 prospect
  11. I was wrong about Mastro. Guy is a valuable utility piece to have
  12. If the Cubs win tomorrow then horsefeathers it, I'm getting excited again
  13. Really nice win, if they somehow pull off a sweep in Baltimore it could change everything
  14. It's just so hard for me to believe that he can't grow/become a good OFer when I watch guys like Schwarber, Alvarez, Castellanos lumber around out there. Even Ian Happ, nobody knew he'd become a Gold Glover until they just let him play out there everyday..
  15. What I really wish for, if we could do a do-over, is them keeping Nico at SS, Morel at 2b, and then not signing Swanson and pocketing nearly 200$ million to go get Pete Alonso this off-season. And Busch is the guy that kind of moves around between 2nd base, 1st, maybe even a spot OF day
  16. IMO, the Cubs have done a disservice by trying to move him around all over in 2023 like he's Kris Bryant or something. And then forcing him to learn an even new position in 2024 with like what, 5 weeks of notice before the season started? Some players are better off just playing 1 position. Funnily enough, Ian Happ, great example. An OK 2nd baseman but a great defensive left fielder once they left him alone there. For Morel, IMO, it's 2nd base or LF where I could see him being a good defensive player
