  1. I know that catcher isn’t really a need but the idea of getting Adley Rutschman is tantalizing. There is way too much talent in that kid to be rotting away in Baltimore
  2. Very true. Damn, I didn't know Steely got TJ again. I read that it was just "elbow surgery" but the articles didn't specify. That really really sucks.
  3. Imagine this team +Steele. Any chance he can pull a Schwarber and come back for the playoffs? I'd imagine the small chance that he can, he'd be a high leverage reliever
  4. Lineups even better. 2016 the pitching was historic, they don't win without it. This team might win it all without a top rotation.
  5. Maybe I’m thinking of the wrong player. But it’s happened before. You recommend not taking precautions when possible? It’s like telling Caleb Williams not to slide and instead get laid out by a linebacker 😂
  6. I remember years ago, Mike Trout lost almost an entire season because of a soft hand injury. I get that they have the mitts now, but still seems like an unnecessary risk. I'd rather have the guys healthy into October than an extra regular season win or two
  7. Also, wow the Padres are horsefeathers dumb for giving up James Wood and Abrams for 1 year of Soto lmao. Wow that one could be historically bad. Is there a better left handed slugger in the game right now than Wood?
  8. I understand that the Cubs are hyper aggressive on the bases but they really need to stop doing it with guys like Tucker, Suzuki, Busch. It's only a matter of time before one of them is shelved for 60 days. At least save it for September/October
  9. IMO, folks are getting caught up in the "results" instead of the "process". Yes, results matter and we all want the Cubs to win as many games as possible. This rebuild took a legitimate 4 or 5 years. However, the Cubs have developed more arms in the last calendar year than the entire Epstein/Hendry era combined. Nobody expected PCA to become this type of hitter and they developed him into a potential top 5 player in baseball. Amaya has gotten better, Suzuki has had year-over-year growth, Busch has become a guy. The development of these guys alone makes Jed a really good GM. The development infrastructure takes time to build, but now this is a great organization. Players that come here know that their careers are in good hands and they will be put in positions to succeed. We also don't know how much the ownership has hamstrung Jed from being able to spend. I have no doubt that if Theo was still here they would have gone after a guy like Max Fried in the offseason. For whatever reason they don't give Jed the same leash to buy talent.
  10. Jed is a pretty damn good GM. He avoided Bryant, Baez, Rizzo extensions which all turned out to be great decisions, even if many in the fanbase and media hated him for it. +PCA, Busch, Brown, Palencia, Tucker on clever trades. The Seiya and Imanaga acquisitions look like home runs too. He (Jed) has earned an extension
  11. not to revisit this forgettable loss but I remember there being 2 outs and 0 people on base. Win probability was probably 99% at that point. Then next 2 got on before Hill walked it off. honestly, maybe a loss like that was needed to bring out the best in Palencia. Every player needs a healthy amount of adversity.
  12. Can't really say enough good things about Palencia. He's been like the best closer in baseball the last month. I'm sure when the season started, Jed had a dozen names in mind for closer and Palencia was not one of them. Exciting to see a young player take his role on the team with his performance
  13. Mason Miller: -0.2 WAR, 3.08 FIP Daniel Palencia - 0.6 WAR, 2.67 FIP
  14. Benson is such a weird player. 1.6 WAR his rookie year, -1.4 his sophomore year, and will probably be a 2-3 war player this year
  15. I know that extensions for relievers are generally frowned upon but I would not mind a 2 or 3 year extension for Kepler. They've unlocked something with him and I don't see it suddenly changing
