  1. Everything that is happening is on Craig. If he took out Cabrera when he gave up back to back walks to begin the 5th, the Cubs would still have at least a 2 run lead.
  2. this might just be the worst game of PCA's career. An embarrassing strikeout that went to the backstop, a terrible bunt that cost the team a run, and forgetting how many outs there are. Brutal.
  3. I hate when managers try to let a guy get thru 5 innings for seemingly no other reason than to qualify for a meaningless stat. It's been obvious for like 4 batters in a row that this guy is finished for the night and now they risk blowing the lead
  4. It seems inevitable that this dude gives up exactly 3 runs every time
  5. Leadoff walk when you've been spotted a 3 run lead? Now I realize why so many managers lose their hair
  6. One more knock here the Cubs should be in cruise control..
  7. Yeah I don't think the Cubs handed PCA a fat extension to lay down drag bunts in obvious RBI situations. Even if it works out on occasion. He's gotta get more comfortable in that spot.
  8. Alright I've been posting in last game's thread wondering where everyone is lmao. Great swings today by Busch
  9. Suzuki swinging at anything and everything except what's right down the middle
  10. He said “When Steele comes back, they can decide which one goes to the pen, depending on their performance”
  11. Those Sox jerseys are so damn ugly. Trying too hard to be like the Bulls
  12. I'm a Justin Steele truther, the idea of him going into the bullpen is blasphemy to me.. lol. Jk. I can't wait to watch him pitch again though. He is a top 25-30 pitcher in the game and it's not fair that the Cubs are down 2 of those guys.
  13. Personally, I hope the Cubs don't try to stretch him out again to be a starter, at least not until next season. Let him keep dominating in this Cade Smith type of role with the occasional spot start. Don't break what's working.
  14. Sale's gotta be a first ballot HOFer. His baseball reference page is a beauty. Hard to believe a guy can pitch as long as he has and never have a season where the ERA/FIP is under 4. Not even Kershaw can say that.
  15. Ben will make himself a lot of money down the line if he keeps pitching like this
  16. I'm not sure if I would consider Peralta a star tbh. Skubal.... now get me that guy 😂 But to your point, the "superstar" can absolutely be found to upgrade the rotation instead of the lineup. That's why Cade's injury still kills me. That was probably the 1 guy on this roster that was blossoming into that top flight guy.
  17. Thank you for saying that. I did try very hard not to insult him lol, because honestly I have grown to appreciate Happ quite a bit. I'll freely admit that in past seasons I wasn't his biggest fan but it's hard not to like him. He's a true home grown talent. And it says a lot about him that the Cubs let many walk out the door over the years (Contreras, Baez, Bryant etc.) but they always prioritized bringing Happ back. So he's not just a really solid player but a great locker room guy too. He absolutely deserves every dollar of his next contract
  18. Good post. You are correct. I probably do underestimate him at times. My entire conclusion is that the Cubs need more superstar talent on this team. Frankly I don't care how they do it or even if they keep Happ or not - but it has to be prioritized IMO because I don't see them winning a WS without that top flight guy. Even the tiny market teams have that guy. The Rays have Caminero, the Royals have Bobby Witt Jr, the Tigers have Skubal.... so why is it that a team with unlimited resources like the Cubs can't land that guy? Let's take a look at every other team that is a serious contender. They are all built around superstars. -The Dodgers and Braves have more superstars than I can count -The Yanks got Judge and Fried -The Guardians have Ramirez (albeit slow start this year) -Even the Athletics have a star lol Really, the only other team that is playing this brand of baseball is the Padres. And even they might have a superstar depending on what your opinion is of Tatis Jr. It just seems like such a weird, glaring issue. And I see no way of addressing it unless it comes at the expense of either Happ or Suzuki. Idk.
  19. I knew before my first comment about Happ that there is heightened sensitivity around here about him and that I needed to phrase my comments carefully to avoid triggering the mob. Literally in every comment i’ve reiterated how good I think he is but why I think it’s logical for the Cubs to consider moving on. It still didn’t work. LOL. He’s the poster child of the fan base. You can’t say 1 word about that guy around here without sending folks into a frenzy.
