    this would be a cool spot for the cubs to have rizzo lead off again. it kind of antagonizes the pirates, it precludes the possibility of a two out, nobody on situation in the first that allows the pirates to put a man on first with relatively little impact, and joe could have a nice talk with the umpires immediately before the game about how he sure is going to be mad if his first batter gets drilled.

    which of the brewers’ 17 runs tonight was your favorite The HR from their 38 year old AAAA catcher for me, personally the cubs aaaa second baseman hit a home run tonight, i wouldn’t talk horsefeathers. hopefully he gets his obp over .300 soon. pretty embarrassing everybody thought he had improved.

    Yep. He went to the Padres the pick after Almora. He and Giolito were HS teammates and both expected to go in the top 10 before Giolito blew his arm out. They were also HS teammates with current Cardinal Jack Flaherty. Doubt you cared about all that but whatever. you’re right! i don’t care

    yes he can be this bad forever and no he’s not opting out under any circumstances at this point. there were scenarios you could dream on before the season where he came out the gate better than his old self and ended up proving he was back and then some, but all that is off the table now.

    the orioles are not getting anything close to addison russell value for half a season of machado. position players are nice and great, but they just can’t be expected to alter a playoff series like a dominant starter or reliever, so teams just can’t talk themselves into overpaying the same way.

    what track record does chatwood have to make you think he’ll be okay? he’s never been able to throw strikes and now he’s worse than ever. as soon as his home run rate stops being fluky low he’s going to be completely unstartable.
