  1. Gonna have to agree with 17 Seconds here. It makes me feel a lot better. The problem with the idea that the Cubs deserve this is you have to explain why the organization bilking taxpayers for yet another horsefeathering stadium when they're not even done paying for their current one deserves to win what day do the cubs raise the banner celebrating the fact that they have the only ownership group in mlb too incompetent to steal money from local government
  2. this is some real monkey paw stuff for whoever wished that quintana could delay his blowup inning to the 7th
  3. They’ve been incredibly successful for a multi-year time horizon. I know cynic/nihilist is the default state for many, but it’s not out of place to point out when hand-wringing the choice of 4th outfielder. by far the richest team in the division won the division twice in ten years.
  4. in theo’s defense we don’t have enough good players anyway so who cares
  5. very excited to see the 12 man roster if everyone who sucked in the second half last year has to go to iowa
  6. yesterday was the 20th and 12 days before the Cubs first game. dont the cubs play in 7 days? goony correctly doesn’t recognize games that take place south of the mason-dixon line
  7. i don’t care what the server’s name is or how new he is i just want my freakin chips and salsa!!

  9. [tweet] [/tweet] quotes like that are not meaningful.
  10. If he's back to his normal self, do you think he and Boras would agree to a $200M contract that takes him well past his prime? They should, idk if they will. He’s not making a ton more when he hits FA at 30 in all likelihood and can lock in a solid amount and take any risk out of the equation. there’s been some quiet buzz that he’s upset about the russell stuff and we know he’s upset about the way the front office abused the system in calling him up. maybe he values getting away from an organization he doesn’t like.
  11. no morrow, and no morrow, and no morrow, creeps in his petty pace but still not even day to day, to the last syllable of recorded time
  12. don’t worry guys our top scout tom ricketts* said our bullpen was fine what is the problem *it says that on his business cards so he gets to subtract his salary from the scouting budget
  13. at some point this infringement on the players’ privacy must end, who among us does not like to kick back on a friday night and enjoy some growth hormone releasing peptide 2
  14. he has some holes in his game to be sure, but i think he could still be a really valuable player with some mental adjustments like learning how to use telekinesis to turn shitty groundballs to the shortstop into 900 foot home runs
  15. bryce plainly didn’t want to go to philadelphia, his alternatives were like a four year deal in LA or a ten year deal in DC where he didn’t get any money until like 2095 or taking the daniel descalso money in chicago
  16. i think this is probably similar to the mound visit stuff in that it is too focused on a small issue to make any real difference, but i’m also unconvinced this is going to have any real negative impact. i don’t know what percentage of outings is less than three batters, but i am sure it is very small. i also think that the percentage of the time that pitchers have outings in which they face only one or two batters due to lack of effectiveness is so small as to be inconsequential here. it really sucks when there is one pitching change after another and i am in favor of that happening less. also, i hope they implement the rule in a way that gets around fake injuries. perhaps pitchers are always free to leave the game whenever, but if you leave before facing three batters, the next batter or two are intentionally walked to get to three.
