If you read the piece you'll see why. That title really doesn't mesh with the article I read it and just don’t agree. I think they’d get solid prospects for all their logical guys to trade. I think he undersells some of the value of them along with money owed/needed to be paid. They’d get a Sale type trade for Bumgarner, they’d get top 25-50 MLB prospects for all of Crawford, Belt, Samardzija and Cueto and wouldn’t have to pay much of the salaries outside of Cueto. Posey would bring back a good haul too but I could see keeping him as franchise icon. Trading those guys + the bottoming out due to having a bad roster and adding high picks for a few years and doing Feldman/Hammel type 1 year and flip deals would have them with a top system very fast. did you see what the marlins got for Stanton? teams aren’t paying top prospects for names when those names have fair (or overpriced) contracts attached.
