  1. i think the cardinals are up next, unless we are getting really in-depth and projecting they do the vikings thing and don't get their pick in on time.
  2. i am really excited by the prospect of one of these guys coming back and not having to forfeit every fifth game by starting russell.
  3. If Dusty didn't mess with him, I'd like to think he'd still be hitting .260-.275 with 25-30 homers and playing great defense. I saw Corey play this weekend at Fenway. He still has more holes in his swing than a... Well, you get the picture. His pitch recognition is still awful and if you get one strike ahead of him, he's an out. He keeps getting chances because "speed doesn't slump," but he is what he is; a 4th outfielder. corey patterson has a lifetime 862 ops in at bats where he puts the ball in play on 0-1 BOOM
  4. He and Chip Caray were let go for being too critical of the team. I think it was a situation where the contracts were not renewed. At least that is how I remember it. Am I wrong? According to wikipedia Stone refused to renew his contract after the 2004 season during which he was confronted by several players who thought he was overly critical. My bad. I think it was Chip Caray whose contact was not renewed. If I recall correctly, Stone's refusal to renew was in part because he thought that Chip was getting a raw deal. poor chip caray, got a job because of his last name, was horrible at it, and failed upwards. go to hell stone.
  5. Jerrel Jernigan, WR, Troy I was hoping that Hankerson or Titus Young would fall here but Jernigan is probably a purer way to meet their needs. A small target capable of stretching the field, Jernigan will give the Falcons offense a bit of explosiveness that it was lacking and will give Matt Ryan another target.
  6. i understand why, as a cubs fan, you'd like to pretend tyler colvin's minor league track record didn't exist, i just don't know why you'd like to make such an assumption when it comes to actually evaluating the player.
  7. this is really what i was hoping to get at. and welcome back, sir.
  8. he looks lost. and it's not like he's playing a ton of defense to make up for it. i'm not saying i want a bunch of reed johnson out there, but i'm also not of the belief that we should be making a lot of efforts to find him at bats. i also can't really rule out the idea that he might be better off in iowa, especially if we want him starting next year. on the other hand, he's already 25. if he 's going to be a guy, he should be doing that by now. what do people think?
  9. i googled "doug davis cancer" to see what kind of clubhouse guy he was and guy waaaaaaaay more hits than i would've liked if he comes up to the majors he will probably try to poison starlin castro, keep him away
  10. whoever put money on april 12 as the day reed johnson would make his pitching debut is going to win a lot of cash
  11. SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED gamecast is confused
  12. gamecast thinks russell is getting hosed on these pitches on the outside corner at the knees
  13. he seems to have instituted a "pitch until the game is close" rule with ryan dempster. i swear, this game would still be in the 7th inning if the cubs had been up 15.
  14. i'll give you soriano. do people really think aramis and byrd are that streaky? is there any evidence for this? i'm not seeing much (unless august-september of last year counts as a down streak). All players are streaky; it's just more of a dramatic swing with Soriano. BtB lumping Byrd and especially Ramirez in with Soriano is just him talking out of his ass. that's what i thought. i couldn't really think of a good way to check this besides month-to-month splits, though, so i wanted to see if i had just missed something.

  16. he should've been smart and just raped someone so the university could help him cover it up
  17. They only have 3 seniors, so it's probably difficult to go too hard on other guys without knowing if the Morii or Selby were coming back. They are in on some more guys than just those 3 though. Self hasn't had this issue in the past. He recruited Deron Williams and Dee Brown to Illinois when Frankie Willimas still had one year left. I think there is more to Self struggling with recruiting now than this. the price of gas is really high, maybe he had to switch from a dump truck full of cash to a prius
  18. Rahim Moore - S - UCLA A WR is tempting here, but the Browns go with a S in the 2nd two years in a row. With Haden, Ward and Moore, the Browns form a dangerous defensive backfield for years to come.
  19. Because that approach worked so well with Corey Patterson. corey patterson should've been hitting 3 in AA rather than 2 in MLB. i don't think this is comparable at all.
  20. he plays for the cubs, duh
  21. i hope this guy falls in a volcano and dies
  22. That. Is an amazing idea. Wow. Better your school than mine, I guess. It's an awesome idea. Fans should always pick their respective team's head coach. "hello mr boardmember, my name is trans tiger, i just wanted to ask if you had considered offering brad stevens a dump truck full of cash"
  23. I don't see why not. He's already proven his stuff with a record TWO perfect simulated games. did you invent that joke yourself
