  1. oh lord, hit me with some pictures or something, that sounds off the charts http://www.royalbaconsociety.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/bacon-wrapped-chicken.jpg Recipe later, once I find it. UPDATE: These were a huge hit and pretty much are the best things I've ever made. UPDATE: I ate too many of these/drank way too many cocktails and don't feel well at all. Or maybe it's the game result. Combination of the three, maybe. i made them too! they went over very well. thanks for sharing, good sir.
  2. human sacrifice, in my opinion
  3. unfortunately roast was murdered in a drive-by you just know ct will be taken down in retaliation eventually
  4. is the puppy bowl actually something where things happen or do you dorks just look at these dogs stand around for ten minutes
  5. oh lord, hit me with some pictures or something, that sounds off the charts AGREED pics and details asap
  6. i like him because he kind of looks like freddy krueger
  7. what the hell is going on with these fouls now jesus
  8. i can't come up with too many alternate universes that lead to this end which don't involve both garza winning multiple world series games and gracie either doing something extremely personally embarrassing or completely distancing himself from the cubs forever. so, uh, yeah i think i'm with you on this one. let's do that.
  9. i haven't read freakonomics, but i have to believe that list is really just the names the most clearly signify that the parents were low-income whites. i don't think those are the most popular names in number (or close), but instead that ONLY low-income whites were naming their kids these things.
  10. ? Robinson Chirinos is not "a piece", Dave Cameron. He turns 27 years old in a couple months and has a grand total of 15 games above AA. He's been in the Cubs organization since Bush's FIRST inauguration. I saw him play in person in Lansing(remember the Lugnuts) before I had my driver's license. He's only hit in his 3rd and 4th go rounds in Daytona and Tennessee, respectively. He's not worthless because he's a good catcher and he is hitting. But he's not going to hit at the MLB level. completely, completely agreed. remember when there was all that stuff about the rangers liking him a bunch or something? i just don't get it at all. i won't say he's worthless, because i suppose there is some modicum of value in having a backup catcher who has 5 fingers on each hand,* but beyond that i don't know why you'd care about him or use any resources to get him at all. *BOOM
  11. That's just Eric Patterson if it was eric patterson, he'd be able to afford to buy the top button on his jersey, thanks to his sweet nsbb minor league player of the year payout
  12. it's just tough because the giants and yankees are each his 6th favorite team in their respective leagues, so no natural rooting interest
  13. i learned all i needed to know about derrek lee the moment i saw him enjoy playing for the cubs those guys are born losers, he should have demanded a trade the moment he got there
  14. Of course salaries matter, that's not the issue. The issue is that Greinke's salary doesn't turn him from a 4 win player to a 2 win player, which is essentially what Dave is trying to claim. i'm with geech on this one. all that matters is the moves that happen. further, bringing up guys like crawford is really unfair. do you honestly think a guy like that would come play in milwaukee and cross his fingers that he gets to finish in third in front of 2.5M people every year for the same money as he'd get in boston?
  15. this is pretty much where i stand. i expect atlanta will blow out carolina so that we know hours in advance that our game is meaningless and that we shouldn't use a real gameplan/play the starters, yet we get beat by enough that people still take it as proof that the bears aren't any good.
  16. he was probably a uga fan thinking that if ucf got happy because they thought they had won the game, it would be impossible for them to come back out and play well
  17. someone clearly still doesn't understand the definition of "chuckers"
  18. So now a man who has had one season of a ERA+ of over 130, three years ago and has a WHIP consistently in the 1.3's is a ace of the caliber of cliff lee? LOL 14 mill for the rich man's Jason Marquis. But he's since he's considered funny it doesn't matter. do you actually understand what a #4 starter does, or what jason marquis' average season is like? are you this ignorant or are you just trolling to get a rise out of people? dempster's last three years vs marquis' last four years (i'm being generous to marquis by including his first year as a cub, when he was decent): W-L: dempster 43-27; marquis 40-40 ERA: dempster 3.49; marquis 4.58 ERA+: dempster 128; marquis 100 WHIP: dempster 1.278; marquis 1.431 BB/9 IP: dempster 3.3; marquis 3.6 K/9 IP: dempster 8.2; marquis 4.9 dempster has been about as good as cole hamels and maybe slightly worse than matt cain and roy oswalt over the past 3 years. yet you're calling him a rich man's jason marquis. are you starting to realize how dumb this is yet? in fairness, ryan dempster is considerably richer than jason marquis
  19. nobody calls winning the nit the title and mizzou is going to go to the real tournament
  20. i really don't like this team very much.
  21. whoa, slow down nostradomus. what are your thoughts on mark prior making 30 starts for the Yanks this year? i'd say looking at his injury history it's very unlikely brandon webb is a lock as a top-5 cy young guy though, right? i mean, we really need him to be, so i assume it will happen if we get him.
  22. I'd rather have Derek Sherrod than Smith. Also, Smith didn't play LT this year at USC. I like Sherrod, but I am assuming he'll be gone. Smith hasn't played LT, but I'm not too worried. He has LT written all over him. I don't think the adjustment will be that tough. Any Illinois fans around? I'm a huge fan of a couple guys they had on D. Martez Wilson and Corey Liuget. What's the word on if they will stay in school or not? i'm no super authority or anything, but from everything i've heard, i'd be pretty surprised if liuget didn't come back. wilson seems like a closer call.
  23. i thought we were out of money? i'm almost willing to bet this is special "THIS WILL MAKE THE FANS LOVE ME" money that wouldn't have been available for someone who might have made a real contribution.
  24. NOT IF YOU DO IT RIGHT for example: one year, $500,000 contract and he agrees to secretly give all the money back to the cubs every time he receives a paycheck so he costs nothing i would consider this a low-risk move.
  25. This. It's comparable to Lebron leaving Cleveland. Him going to us may be worse because we're their arch rival. Except Pujols already got them a ring, so it won't sting quite as bad for them. and it's not basketball where once guy can so plainly swing a team. so it would be nothing like lebron.
