    i seem to remember being furious about him leading off according to b-r's game finder thing, it looks like harris started at leadoff twice with the cubs and never started a game hitting third, though you have to have a subscription thing to see the specific games in which this happened.

    As one of the few people on the board who's actually attracted to men I'll weigh in: Darwin Barney. GROSS. he's hideous weird. i've always thought he was a good looking guy. i'll add that, when he was with the cardinals, my sister had a major crush on todd zeile.

    i was talking to my mom on the phone tonight and starlin came up and she used the words "shawon dunston." i blacked out after that and have no idea what happened, but let's just say i am going to be seeing dunston + 30 pts of avg in my nightmares until castro dares to draw 2 walks in the same week.

    That was a money thing. Is it wrong to wonder why a bad offensive team would just give up on a 24 year old former 1st round pick? I don't know. Maybe it was options, maybe he had a bonus coming. Maybe he slept with someones wife. It just makes me wonder, which I think is pretty sensible. It doesn't mean I thinks it's dumb, It doesn't mean I think it's a sure failure, just gives me cause to question it- not the pick up but why they would cut him. I don't think there's anything wrong with wondering why the A's cut him. I also don't think there's anything wrong with letting him get a couple PA while he's on the team. Cardenas is 24 and has a career minor league line of .303/.368/.417. Barney is 26 with a career minor league line of .287/.335/.376. Cardenas was DFAs due to his defense and the A's need for his spot on the 40 man. He should be given as much PT as we can give him, especially in a lost season. i haf no idea what those #s mean, pls express all datea in total bases per 1O team games (not games played or games started)

    Barney didn't have a 2nd season in AA. That .339 is his combined OBP in 2009. And again you're using a hilariously small sample to attempt to show a "trend." Barney's improvement to .400 was over 15 PAs. obp normalizes in 30ab which is twice 15pas and 30 is the numnber you need for a good smaple in statistics so 30pas will be fine here the .420ob% was there4 at least half normal so why isn't barney leading off or at least champagnea So we should expect Barney to put up an 800 OBP? no one can say for sure Ntil we c it happen, all wer can do is guesssd but if #s trend up and up andup your betting wrong to bet aginst it! and only twenty6!
