My completely unscientific opinion is that they used their resources to get more big talents and then had a better track record at developing them. Now they don't really have the ability to get a bunch more big talents, but since no one else does either, their superior track record at development will still keep them at the top in Drafting/Development. i have no idea how this works. how many coaches throughout the cubs minor league system have been replaced? are the coaches in spring training right now largely the same people who were there last year? will improvement in development come from better directives from the top, or are different people working with the players? if it's the latter, are those people in place now, or is that something that takes time to get set up and hasn't happened yet?
yes, it is very unlikely that the cardinals have a pitcher in the minor leagues who could be as good as roy oswalt would be this year. if so, that pitcher would be in the major leagues pitching every fifth day. I don't see where you get all this confidence in Oswalt. The man is damaged goods. Damaged goods that had a 3.69 ERA last year pitching half his games in Philly and lead the league in WHIP while placing 6th in the Cy Young vote in 2010. Here's a list of qualifying rookie starting pitchers that had a better ERA than Oswalt last year: Jeremy Hellickson 3.69 is good for him? With the best team in baseball behind him? i think nsbb's new policy requiring members to state their biggest weakness in their username is a great one sincerely, eating undercooked poul treymon

They'll worry about that in 2015 when it's relevant. He's 35 and his neck was recently fused back together. I'd say your assessment is pretty optimistic. I'm an optimistic kind of guy. Plus, he's one of the GOATs at *the* position the NFL goes out of it's way to protect. Prepare to see SO MANY flags for that Bronco offense. I'm not sure 15 yards and automatic 1st down is going to make up for paralyzing Peyton Manning. maybe they'll get 30 yards and an exemption allowing them to re-activate bubby brister.
oh and my brother is really happy and celebrating. he actually texted me that his boyfriend gave an extra special hug tonight. i like seeing him happy a lot. yay basketball.
