  1. I think the whole issue smacks of a lack of integrity on the editor's part.
  2. I think the count was rigged. I'm going to send them an email saying so.
  3. We had some thinning of the ranks, but I think we had the depth to cover it. The weakest link is Cotts, who did look better at the end of ST. Hopefully he can keep it up. I don't think we're much weaker in the pen than we expected going into ST.
  4. I thought for sure at least one or two relievers would be traded before opening day, esp w/ Cherry doing so well. Eyre was at the top of my list of potential trade candidates. I didn't even hear any rumors about any of our relievers getting interest from anyone. Not how I envisioned our ST going.
  5. I quit reading sportsline.com after Dumbass Doyle did his little hate job on Illini fans. Not on the Illini, but on the fans. Their website has been going downhill. It used to be a good site for info and stats, now it's just another commentary site filled with idiots. They should lure away Dayn Perry from Fox Sports and a few of the idiots from ESPN, and they'd have an all-star cast of idiots on their site. It's only a good site if you're hungry for the latest on the teams that all of the bandwagon fans are following.
  6. I just threw up in my mouth! Don't put that mental image in my head...EVER! I don't know who would win but the losers would be every single person who watched it. The only way I would be remotely interested in that match is if the loser had to submit to forced retirement. I would watch only because I'd be rooting for a double disqualification.
  7. ...years, not million... http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/6618614
  8. Wuertz must be one of those guys who just starts the year slowly, kind of like Ryno back in his days. He never was great in March or even the first half/all of April. I agree that I think Wuertz is our best reliever, but he's opened the last couple of years in AAA, and has not looked sharp this spring. We haven't really gotten much of a look at him in April before. It might be best for him to start there for 2-4 weeks then come up. I'm optimistic that Lou won't forget about him down there the way Dusty did for half of the season. I'm doubtful that Cotts will hang around too long, I think he's going to pitch his way out of a job and make an opening for Wuertz. I'd like to eventually see a pen of Dempster, Howry, Eyre, Ohman, Wuertz, Cherry, and Guzman for the long man. That could be an awfully tough pen.
  9. What does that mean for the Cubs? I honestly don't want the trib to sell the Cubs unless it's someone that cares about the team past the business aspects. I agree... I don't know what it means. I don't like Zell. He also has minority ownership in the Sox and Bulls. Both the Bulls and White Sox won championships with him as minority owner... (I know, but I am a Cubs fan, it's in my nature to be optimistic...)
  10. http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/2007/03/xbox-360-black.jpg That looks pretty slick. Any specific date for that release and will it be more expensive than the original? Engadget said April, I believe. edit: Possible announcement tomorrow. http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/27/microsoft-to-announce-xbox-360-elite-tomorrow/
  11. Yeah, because MLB umpires never miss any calls. They didn't miss this call, so I'm not clear on what point you're trying to make. You were defending your position by saying "If he did something wrong, then why wasn't he called out for interference?" My point was pretty easy and clear. That was an ignorant argument to use to make that point. Just because an MLB ump didn't call him out, doesn't mean squat. MLB umps miss calls all of the time. I've yet to see a single game called with no errors. That should have been pretty obvious.

  13. Go watch the replay. He was so far inside that he was running on the grass. I'm not here to say Furcal is a bad man, or he deserves something bad to happen toh im. But he DID do something wrong. But so did Eyre in that matter. I've seen the replay. And if Furcal did something wrong, as you suggest, then why wasn't he called out for interference? Yeah, because MLB umpires never miss any calls.
  14. I saw somewhere that next month they're going to release the XBox 360 v2. It's supposed to have a 120gb hard drive, an HDMI output, and is supposed to run cooler and use less power, which should solve many of the problems other people have had. If you're going to get one, wait for these to come out!
  15. Would Dusty have done anything like this? No, Dusty wouldn't have even benched the player. He would have just said "Nice try, Dude; you'll get it next time."If he were a veteran, yeah. If he were a rook, he'd be chained to the pine for 3 weeks before being expected to come in as a PH with sharp timing...
  16. Hell just froze over. Awesome! I have stock in the North Face
  17. 10 months of flawless operation, though use has been sporadic. Something to consider though...most problems seem to be with the power supply, and the DVD drive. The power supply can be replaced easily. It doesn't take a whole lot of savvy to replace the DVD drive, as the XBox 360 is little more than a computer with a unique form factor. If it broke, you shouldn't necessarily have to buy a new one.
  18. there have been plenty of duke busts, but some pretty good successes too. Brand, Deng, to a point, Maggette. Hill has had injury problems, but was a star before that. Boozer has been solid. Jay Williams let an off court mistake ruin a promising young career. It's too early to judge shelden or JJ Duhon may be the most surprising of them all. He didn't bust after Duke, he was Duke's biggest bust while he was still there. He's turned out to be a rather quality role player for the Bulls.
  19. Before or after the attack by rabid wolverines? After, but before being run down by a stampede of raging bulls.
  20. well I would believe that better recruits will come to Minnesota now that Tubby is there. Any speculation on who will move to Kentucky? Who is the mid-major flavor of the week? SIU coach? Winthrop? VCU? It's still a lower profile job and it's Minnesota. Where do you think the average top recruit is going to like more, North Carolina or Minnesota. Minnesota. The average recruit will never get in the game at UNC. That's why I said average top recruit. Don't ruin my smart-alec wit!
