  1. At least you had a transaction left. Thanks Toronto!
  2. I don't know if he gets DFA'd, but Montgomery should get the spot the next time around and move Anderson to the pen for now. Or, to the DL with an "injury".
  3. I'm pretty sure I'm up. Anyways, Velasquez walks too many people and gives up a ton of homers. Hopefully the weather doesn't suck and the Cubs dong him into submission. Also, if they could not let the Phillies score in the first inning, that'd be great.
  4. There is no reason to keep Duensing anymore. Give another guy a chance.
  5. Drop Donaldson, add Freeman.
  6. The kayakers were paid to be out there. They not only retrieved the balls, but also helped move the "bases" (buoys) into place.
  7. You're correct on the Drake bid, but even that was an autobid. The Valley as a premier mid-major conference is pretty much toast, as the only schools that were investing into their basketball programs were Creighton and Wichita State and by doing so, they outgrew their peers and leveraged that into a more prestigious conference affiliation. Doesn't help that many of the Valley leftovers are in pretty challenged financial condition (from a school budgeting perspective) and are heavily dragged down with FCS football expenses. Neither Wichita nor Creighton had that and thus were able to focus their primary resources into basketball. Eventually you'll see Arch Madness fold and the conference tourney will be hosted at campus sites. Pretty big bummer for one of the best mid major conference tourneys. Bradley invested, they built a new training facility, payed a lot of money to bring in a new coach, they just sucked at it. Bradley spent several million dollars buying out and signing Geno Ford, who barely made it 4 years before being fired for being just completely terrible. That said, Jim Les won. They fired him in 2011 and he made it back to the NCAA tournament this year with UC Davis.
  8. NL: Nationals Cubs Dodgers Mets Pirates (WC) Giants (WC) Marlins Cards Rockies Braves Brewers DBacks Phillies Reds Padres AL: Red Sox Indians Astros Yankees (WC) Tigers Mariners (WC) Blue Jays White Sox A's Rays Royals Rangers Orioles Twins Angels Playoffs: Pirates finally win a WC game. Butler does really good in AAA and is the 5th starter in the 2nd half, continuing to show potential Bad Prediction: Anderson doesn't make it through May Heyward continues to struggle, but still does better then last year Baez gets abducted by pissed off Cardinal fans Arrieta ends up with an ERA around 4, struggling at times to find the plate.
  9. A: Arenado B: Bryant, Donaldson C: Trout, Stanton, Harper D: Contreras, Diaz, Villar, Turner, Drury WC PM'd
  10. Lester, Chapman, Arrieta
  11. I also wonder if the Cubs don't give a crud about injury risk, as is: either the pitcher gets injured or they don't and trying to limit the risk by changing their mechanics is pointless, especially when they end up a much worse pitcher. Other teams might. I also believe that one of the major reasons the O's try to limit/remove the cutter is do to their belief that it creates a higher risk of injury. That's not to say that Bosio and his staff won't try little tweaks to help the player stay healthy, but major changes that negatively impact the pitcher's performance are not considered.
  12. What a choke by Atlanta.
  13. For this offseason, he ties David Rollins in transactions (except that Rollins repeated organizations): November 18, 2016: Selected off waivers by the Chicago Cubs from the Seattle Mariners. November 22, 2016: Selected off waivers by the Texas Rangers from the Chicago Cubs. December 2, 2016: Selected off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies from the Texas Rangers. December 21, 2016: Selected off waivers by the Texas Rangers from the Philadelphia Phillies. December 23, 2016: Selected off waivers by the Chicago Cubs from the Texas Rangers.
  14. Since the Indians hosted in 97 (Including 2017 and 2018): AL: 1999 Red Sox 2001 Mariners 2003 White Sox 2004 Astros (NL at time) 2005 Tigers 2008 Yankees 2010 Angels 2012 Royals 2014 Twins 2019 Indians NL: 1998: Rockies 2000: Braves 2002: Brewers 2006: Pirates 2007: Giants 2009: Cards 2011: DBacks 2013: Mets 2015: Reds 2016: Padres 2017: Marlins 2018: Nationals Teams that haven't hosted since 97: AL: Blue Jays (1991) Orioles (1993) Rays (Never) A's (1987) Rangers (1995) NL: Dodgers (1980) Cubs (1990) Phillies (1996) I'm not surprised at the A's/Rays not hosting it. The O's supposedly were in line to host it in 2014/2016 but the MASN/Nationals debacle pissed off the league so they didn't get it. The Cubs are rumored to be likely to get it for 2020 after the stadium renovations are supposed to be done. I'm surprised that the Phillies haven't hosted it since they haven't had one at their new stadium yet (96 was at Veterans)
  15. I don't think any of Rolen, Jones, or Vizquel should be hall of famers, but I expect Vizquel to get in.

  17. Elected: Bagwell Raines Pudge That's it. Writers are still really horsefeathering stupid and need to be culled.
  18. That was a hell of an ending. I also thought it was going left at first.
  19. Already open: Jacksonville Buffalo LA San Diego SF Denver Probably open: Indianapolis (a little surprised that Pagano hasn't been fired yet.) Could be open: New Orleans (may trade Payton, Rams are a strong possibility) New York Jets (but may just fired the rest of the staff?) Could be open, but probably won't: Arizona (Rumored that health concerns would force Arians to retire, but it sounds like he will be back. Houston (1-and-done playoffs may get O'Brien fired)
