The one thing I will say about Gray is that I doubt the Cubs will be willing to give up too much. The thing the Cubs seem to really value is durability so I doubt that they would be willing to give up somebody like Baez or especially Happ. I also think that they are not as high on Almora as we may be, especially with Happ doing well. I do see them selling on him soon. Packaging Almora and Candelario is a pretty good package and could be used to bring back another pitcher or something. I do expect them to do another move before the deadline.
There's a snowball's chance in hell that the Giants trade Bumgardner for anything less than Schwarber, Eloy, Baez/Russell, Happ, and more. They may be bad this year but I doubt they think their window is closed for the next couple years.
The only reason the Yankees move Pineda is if they think they won't be getting him to re-sign, so I doubt they'll move him. I don't know if the Yankees are necessarily buyers, but they won't sell anybody. They make me think of the Cubs in 2015, and will probably trade like that (trading lesser prospects for back-end rotation and bull-pen help, like the Cubs trading for Tommy Hunter and Dan Haren).
I keep expecting him to slump or something but he doesn't. I looked to see how much Yankee Stadium helps him, and it gives him and almost .400 bump in OPS. Of course, that's .950 road OPS to a 1.330 home OPS.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmnnnnnnnn I did not expect them to do this, especially the DFA part. I thought they'd fine or suspend Miggy for now, especially since he's been decent this year outside of not throwing out runners and this crap.
I remember the build up to that draft and the debate over Vitters vs Wieters. Turns out the "We Want Wieters!" side was right. The could've drafted: Wieters, Bumgarner, Heyward, Porcello, Frazier, or even Josh Donaldson. That's the joke...
Volquez has something going in Miami headed to the ninth, but the announcer (at least the one on the MLB channel, I'm not sure if it's the Marlins broadcaster or not) keeps going on about how Don Mattingly has an interesting decision to make. No. No he doesn't. At all. Yes, right now it's only a 1-0 game. Volquez is only at 86 pitches. What decision does he have to make? Nobody is going to pull Volquez right now. Hell, even if he gives up a hit he won't be immediately pulled.
The problem is that the only other players on the Jays bench (Goins, Carrera, and Coghlan) are left handed hitters... I should say that the problem is that their manager thinks that Barney is a better option because he bats righty, I still would've gone with Carrera, he did pretty good against LHP last year and has ok career numbers.
